Here’s another “clue” hopefully. The read only button is checked, does that need to be unchecked?
Thanks. Now i have EZDrummer back, but same issues. I attached another screen shot, you’ll see that it is version 1.14 even though I installed it from a new download. Also see the 81mb that Rock has loaded.
Now it’s even worse! I ininstalled EZDrummer from the control/remove programs menu, downloaded EZDrummer, and I cant get it to install. Here is the error message, attached.
I’m at a loss here. The installer for ezdrummer says I have the latest version. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled ezdrummer and ezx Rock, I’ve made sure both are updated, nothing. It will only load 81 megs of EZX Rock. My DAW is up to date. Windows 7-up to date. I have lots of vsts, everything has always worked flawlessly. This is the first software I’ve had trouble with ever. I purchased EZX ROck in February, didn’t work from the get-go and I didn’t have time to deal with it until now.
It is version 1.14 apparently? I’ve downloaded the 1.33 update, installed it, it says “successful” but it doesn’t appear to be. Very weird. I uninstalled ezx Rock, it re-installed successfully (without error message), but I’m still having the same problem: it will only load 81 mb. It’s not just the snare, the kick seems like it’s missing velocities too, I’m sure a lot is missing if it’s only loading 81 mb.
I cant uninstall! When I try to install over it, there is an error. Something about “midi x03 library” or something to that effect. I should be up to date with all the latest versions. I am using EZD. All my other expansions (DFH, Latin, Pop) work fine.
A true “N.C” would be done in a DAW, or perhaps that measure could be played/recorded. An actual “rest” would be just splitting the file and dragging the second half of the file a measure or so. The only catch is whether the last chord should sustain through the rest or not. That’s easily edited in a DAW, in notation view one can add or delete the sustain end mark.
No Chord (N.C.) is different than a rest. When something is marked “N.C.”, it usually indicates that no chord is wanted, but rather play the riff or lick or whatever that is notated there. A riff like Zeppelin “The Ocean” would have N.C. written over the lick, meaning it’s a unison lick with no chords.

Gtr (without scripting)could be difficult as the best approach for this is sampled and time stamped, broken down snippets of actual rhythms like Virtual GTr from Steinberg.
If you sampled single notes and the placed them across a keyboard it would be very very limiting unlike a piano or organ.
If they did do it the VG way and did it better i would love it too.
I was half-kidding about guitar. Still, the Motif series does some surprisingly good arps, especially the acoustic guitars. An arpeggiated guitar like “Hey You” or “House of the Rising Sun” would be fairly easy to do. For me, distorted guitars are the hardest to pull off via VST and I avoid them like the plague.
Strings would probably be harder than guitar. (Disclaimer: I’m a pro violinist and orchestrator). For starters, they couldn’t be “played” by a string section or string player, string midi sucks and the latency due to the bow attack makes it useless. They would either have to be played on a keyboard or better yet, sequenced. The best results I get with strings: I do them in Sibelius then import the midi into Sonar. That way I can do slurs and basic articulations, then edit them in the DAW. Depending on what VST is used etc, they usually have to be slid back about a 64th note (Sonar does “ticks”). I also break up the parts into a few midi channels: one for sustained, one for spiccato etc. It’s easier and more accurate than keyswitches. At the end I overdub real strings and keep the synth strings lower in the mix.
At the end of the day, it’s voicing, range and how they react to specific samples that matters. They wouldn’t translate as well from sample to sample as keyboard parts. Toontrack: if you make a string version, I’d like to be considered as one of the makers of the midi. I’ve got some serious credentials.

Anyone notice anything else? I still notice some weird choices when transposing chords in some cases, could use some refinement there, though I realize asking an algorithm to have an “ear” is a tall order.
Yeah. I think transposing in a DAW might be more literal.
Kudos to all that worked on this, it’s an excellent update. Now that it’s done, you’ll have plenty of time to get that B3 Organ version going.

If anyone can explain how I get a nice waltz piano from the 4/4 clips I will be grateful.
Realistically, you won’t be able to find any patterns from EZ Keys (currently) that will work in a waltz setting. The best thing to do is find a midi file on the internet in the style you wish and cut it up. There are probably millions. 6/8 is 2/4 with triplets basically, it would take a lot of work to get it to sound right. You would have to move the strong beat (beat 4 in a true 6 eighth note measure) to 3.

I suppose if they were split up into intro, verse, chorus, bridge they might be more useful.
Perhaps, but IMO this is the kind of thing that will inspire people. If someone is thinking ” I wish my song had a Benny and the Jets feel”, it can.
