have you tried running the uninstaller included in the MIDI update? if so, did it run OK? If problems persist please press the ‘log file’ button after the installer failure and send it to support, this will give us more details about the issue.

I found the issue – it was with the length of the paths. Since I was trying to install this from my server location – and it had a huge path to start with – adding the very long file names/paths of the various sounds, files etc – started the errors.

As soon as I moved the 1.50 update folder to my local drive and gave it a short name like DFHMIDI – it ran perfectly.

    Solved.

as per my earlier reply, there is an uninstaller included in the full product download.

Understood – but when I run Uninstaller.exe (from the full installer as downloaded from ToonTrack) – I get this bizarre message:

Window Title = “Software Update Required”

Windows Text: “You need to upgrade your Toontrack software to the latest version before you can install this product”.

I have no idea what “software” I am supposed to upgrade – FWIW – my EZX DFH IS already at 1.50?

Note the word “install” on this weird message. This file is clearly called Uninstaller.exe – not sure what the heck “install” is doing in an “uninstall” context – but it will not allow me to uninstall anything – even after completing what appears to be a clean, full install from the full product download archive.

Also – this file (Uninstaller.exe) can only be found sitting alone in the Full product installer folder as it exists on my server. It is nowhere to be found on my actual DAW PC (that I can see). There is nothing in any Toontrack folder and nothing anywhere else like Add/Remove Programs etc.

Seems that you guys have a very odd outdated setup routine firmly rooted in a 32bit (XP) type of world when pretty much all of us are running Windows 64 bit DAWs. I suspect no links to any uninstall feature has everything to do with Windows 64 bit.

ALL EZX libraries and software should feature a clean, easy to find uninstall routine that REMOVES everything properly – regardless of what OS is being used.

After doing a clean install from the full installer – I still do not see anyway to uninstall this library from within Windows itself. There is nothing under Add/Remove programs or anywhere else. What is up with this library?

Further to this – I have another thread going on strange errors when trying to apply the 1.50 MIDI update to my DFH install for use with EZD2.01

uninstallers are included with the full product download available in your account.

Realize that. However – this install was done several years ago. And due to the extreme hassle of setting up EZX stuff – at least a few years back – when I was using EZD1 – I would install all the libraries to my S drive and never remove them or reinstall them when rebuilding a PC.

I found that when it came time to install my EZD1 plugin for a new PC build – I could simply point it to the existing S:Toontrack folder and it would pick up all the existing libraries without having to reinstall them all from scratch everytime.

This is obviously why I cannot find an uninstaller:)

ORIGINAL: andrew_kI’m pretty sure the new version can’t be too far away, if some of the forum users are involved in testing(?).

I think that was sarcasm creeping through. As in – we (the users) are constantly testing a product that never really is finished (or stable).

    Most likely, yes.
I do not think you need to wait much longer for the 64-bit version, though. Rogue stated that it will be released this summer in a neighboring post.

    Thanks for the update…

    Cheers,
