    Hi Bruce,

this is what I just did on a Win11 PC with no prior EZbass installation:

Ran the Product Manager application and browsed to my EZbass product.

Clicked ‘Show Details’ and then the gray ‘Download’ button next to the 1.1.8 software update.

After it downloaded, I clicked the small menu to the right of the ‘Download’ button and then ‘Show in Explorer’.

Then I un-zipped the archive and ran the ‘EZbass Software Updater’.

Next I Authorised EZbass and when launched, it asked me for the location of my EZbass libraries.

    I hope this helps,

    John

Thanks for the update – but that is markedly different that what I saw if one follows the prompts from Product Manager as their guide

I mean what mortal user would ever know to do the “Show In Explorer, unzip the archive, run the updater manually” steps?

That sounds like insider intel that only a TT Tech Advisor would know 🙂 But thank you for sharing!

FWIW: Your success with EZBass and these custom steps are exactly what EZD3 and EZK2 allow us do VIA Product Manager – without any custom steps.

Would be nice to inform whoever manages Product Manager to allow EZBass to behave the same as these other two in a reinstall situation with existing content.

    Cheers

The first (and primary) issue – is that I want to install EZBass v1.1.8 ONLY for a new install. Not EZBass 1.0.0 and then have to mess around adding more updates and more hassle.

It is this exact step forced by Product Manager that results in the installer routine forcing me to install the EZBass “content” all over again – when it is already present.

It is a complete waste of time and presumably is overwriting files that are already known to be good. I did not ask for (or need) a content reinstall if the content is already there. Again – this is the exact opposite of EZKeys2 and EZD3. They do NOT ask to reinstall anything.

Just want to have Product Manager allow me to directly install EZBass v 1.1.8 (or whatever is the latest), launch it standalone, then wait for it to tell me it cannot find it’s sound content, point it to my L drive and we are golden. Should take less than a minute.

This is exactly what I do with EZD3 and EZKeys. No side installs or weird errors about needing a “prior” version before attempting to install this version – nothing like that.

just point the content path to your existing content rather than the default. for relocating the content (and checking) see this FAQ for moving libraries for all product:
    https://www.toontrack.com/faq/how-do-i-move-my-sound-libraries-expansions-to-an-external-drive/

on my system some app i use their content location settings, and others i use directory junction for mapping to allow me to put all the content on a “content” drive.

    Operating system: Windows 11

This works fine for EZKeys and EZDrummer – but does not for EZBass. You can see in my first post where this goes. It is not clean nor logical nor anything like the other two.

Hopefully something that Toontrack is looking into as this process is not good at all when users want to reinstall or move libraries.

Hi to Everyone who’s interested in the solution to my problem…  I can’t believe it but when I clicked on ‘Run As Administrator’ in the Studio One program, EZkeys2 operates exactly as it should.  That’s all I had to do.  I wish someone could have come up with the answer for me because I’ve wasted almost a week trying to solve this problem.  Now I have to work on an arrangement that I need to get ready asap.

    Thanks for all suggestions.

    Paul

Interesting development – however – still no issues here and NOT running as Admin.

This tweak still indicates something else is in play as I cannot for the life of me understand why logging into Studio One as admin would make any difference in this scenario – but if it’s working – so be it.

Thanks for the update and the video. Some observations from my chair

As I suspected – your workflow in the video – is a bit unique as there are steps in here that are usually not necessary but they should not effect that MIDI drag. Walk with me thru your steps – starting with:

    1. Add Standard Groove.

For all the time I have ever used EZkeys (or any EZ instrument) – I do not believe I have ever used this button. Can you comment on why you click Add Standard Groove?

    2. Click on the Grooves Tab.

With respect to “standard groove” above – it is easier and faster to simply start here. Audition any groove you want and drag it on the Song Track.

    3. Selected Groove’ is the one that I select from the Ezkeys Midi Library.  I drag this groove over into the Song Track replacing the default Midi.

    4. Click on ‘Replace Midi’ to transfer selected groove to Song Track Blocks.

    5. Save Changes.

    6. Left click on the groove in the Song Track and drag to track in Studio One 6.

All the other steps are fine and I just tested this relentlessly and still cannot reproduce.

After closely watching that vid over and over a couple of times – this almost feels like a “layers” issue or some other setting within your song template or possibly some setting within EZKeys somewhere. It is most definitely not common as everyone else who has chimed in cannot replicate this.

Be very curious to know what this is – hoping you will update the group once you find out.

    Hi Brad, John & Christoffer,

I have a ticket with Tech at Presonus.  They want me to make a short video of what is happening re: multiple tracks.  Do you think I still need to do this considering I’ve found out that I can avoid getting multiple tracks by holding down the CTRL Key while dragging with Left Mouse?  I was thinking you would be able to solve the problem now.

    Please advise,

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Paul

Would be very helpful to know exactly what you doing – in order – as many of us both here and in the Presonus forums cannot quite make sense of how you are going about this OR getting to a point where 20 tracks are created. This sequence:

When I drag selected groove after saving it opens up multiple tracks in Studio One.  I’ve unchecked Auto Save but it still keeps on happening.  In EZKeys1 when I dragged groove it only had the groove I’d worked on and that was all that was transferred to Studio One Midi track.  It must be a setting in EZKeys2 causing this but I can’t find it.

Is all over the place and I have no idea what it is you are “saving” or why you would be saving it (Presumably from within the EZKeys 2 interface). And I also do not understand what “selected groove” means either. “Selected” for where? An EZKeys library? Selected after you dragged a MIDI block from a library TO the EZkeys Song Track?

I have tested this relentlessly here using my standard procedure on how I would tackle this – but there is no saving, no “selected grooves” or any other angle that gives me multiple tracks in any way – it’s always correct – grab a MIDI block (or blocks) from the EZK Song Track and drag them to the S1 instrument track and exactly that block (or blocks) get placed in the S1 instrument track (that is hosting EZ Keys 2)

You are doing something very different and we cannot figure out what it is.

    Cheers

You won’t get any price breaks using Paypal. Might want to check and see exactly how much in fees you are getting nailed for.

Hopefully Bruce McDonald reads the replies above and solves his similar problem. It was driving me insane not being able to figure it. Thanks again

I finally did figure out. But what an obscure PITA method of having to do this.

Would it kill Toontrack to put a simple line or two of text somewhere on that giant empty Libraries tab – on just how to change this path?

yes. it’s a bug affecting that particular pop up. Click Show Details, and you should be able to start the desired installer (64 or 32-bit) from there.

    Worked great.

One more Q: Is it possible for a later build of PM – to have it NOT notify on “bitness” with regards to software installs.

I am 64 bit all the way and I noticed that PM insists on telling me that some items are only partially installed – in that the 32bit version of xyz is not installed.

I will never need a 32 bit version of anything. Would be nice to have an option in PM to only notify for specific software versions (32 bit, 64Bit or Both) when viewing the summary panels in PM.

Would make for a cleaner display and save cycles/disc space etc by not downloading things we do not need.

There is an update for the Electronic EZX in your account (1.5.2). Can you install it and see if this fixes things?

All good now! Whatever was wrong appears to be right 🙂

Thanks. Seems like an odd one.

@Rogue said:- have you ran any registry cleaners in an attempt to resolve your issue?

    No.

@Rogue said:– are you logged in as administrator on the machine?

    Always.

@Rogue said:Do you have the latest EZdrummer version installed currently? (if I check your download history version 2.0.1 was never downloaded, so I’m confused by your statement earlier that you have EZD2.01)

Better check again – I downloaded and installed 2.01 around 10:30 this morning :)

@Rogue said:Again, I don’t think your solution will be to uninstall the EZX anyhow, as you state it is already at version 1.5.0 and there is a separate content installer/uninstaller for the MIDI if that is what is causing you some troubles.

Further to my other post on the uninstall issue – this may be a path issue as well….I will try a few things here and report back.
