    Thank you for replying –

I might have this wrong…but it was my understanding that the difference between the “presets” and the “projects” was that the projects are saved with ALL the information intact, ie channel routing in the mixer, e-drum info, velocity parameters…where as the presets do not hold that info.  That is why I have been accessing the kits I’ve made through the Projects file.  Am I mistaken on this?

Sorted this out…there was an issue in downloading the driver.  Uninstalled and re-installed.

Thank you – I actually realized, right after posting, ha ha, that I had rack Tom one routed, but I actually use rack tom 2 as my one rack…duh.  Sorry to waste people’s time.  🙂

Thank you, Jord – that is super helpful!

My endgame is…I want to record a drum track – using my Roland kit – as a midi track…but I want to bounce down to audio TWO different drum kits from that midi track, so the producer has two totally different kits to chose from.  (I want to use one kit from the bright room and one from the main room).  So I want to end up sending stems for two different bass drums, two snares, etc.  (I know some of the microphone settings are different between the rooms – the main room has close mics on toms where the bright room doesn’t, I believe…). But the thing is, I want it to be the same performance.  So, I’m just trying to figure out if I just do the first bounce and then essentially erase all the Logic multi track subs and start over, or if I just switch the kits in EZD3 and the midi track will play the new kit and bounce those sounds onto the existing sub tracks…

If this worked… this is the snare drum (green) and an audio file of a shaker track I did with a mic…

    Hey Shawn –

I am currently bouncing midi tracks in Logic Pro (using bounce tracks in place) into audio files.  I am working on a song where I have recorded 3 different drum tracks.  I have routed all the mixer settings in EZD3 into the aux tracks, which has worked to give me individual tracks from the kits.

    Except for one!

For some reason I can’t figure, the mixer on this kit is not giving me the full range – I am getting kick in, kick out (out 1/2), snare top (3/4), snare bttm (5/6), OH kit (11/12), OH mono (17/18), and then the percussion stuff.  No toms, no hi hat, no ambience, no crunch etc.  I can’t find a setting to re-set or adjust this.  Is there a way to…or do I have to start again from scratch?

Thank you, Shawn – much appreciated.  The scale goes some way to helping…but the smallest setting being 70% is still far from ideal – it is still taking up a lot of real estate.

I realize I should probably watch all your videos right from the beginning…because I don’t think I’m really using EZD3 the way it’s “supposed” to be used.  I’m simply using it as a sound source being triggered by my e-kit.  I’m recording it as MIDI with the idea of then bouncing those tracks to audio (with multi tracks assigned to auxes).  I’m doing no work in the EZD3 interface.  I’m probably making things harder for myself in some ways…

I have, yes.  Is it possible that it is “letting” me play the EZD3 sounds as I record, but actually recording the audio of a Logic drumkit somehow?  I don’t know the Logic sounds at all….these sounds sounded like the EZD3 sounds, but from a different kit with different mapping.  ie, my rack tom, which I map as the 2nd rack tom for the lower/mid tom sound, was triggering a high tom sound on the recording…

I am listening to EZDrummer 3 through the headphone jack of the TD27, as well as the playback of the song in Logic…which I guess is just the audio input/output setting on my Mac.  Seems to make sense.  The TD27 is switched to location “off” so as not to trigger any sounds from the module.  I am not using an audio interface, I am connected to my computer via USB from the TD27

So, even if I’m mixing and matching instruments from the 3 rooms to create a custom kit…if I just send the close mics to a producer to mix, those sounds are going to be dry, with no processing on them?

I was building a kit from instruments from the 3 different rooms….bass drum and floor toms from main room, snare and rack tom from bright room and cymbals from the tight room. It really sounds like the snare, for instance, even with just the close mic soloed, sounds like it has processing on it.  Maybe I’m missing something.

Actually, this does not seem to be the case – with all the room mics off, just the close mic on the snare, there is definitely a reverb on the sample. Don’t know how to get rid of that…

Digging a little deeper into the mixer section…I think maybe what I’m experiencing is not a reverb setting but actually just the “ambience” and “crush” microphones, if that makes sense…

    Hey, Shootie –

Because you’ve been so helpful (I have figured out the mapping/rim stuff, thank you so much),  I’m wondering if I can ask you another question:  I have started to put together custom presets from various kits across the different rooms (cymbals from the tight room, snare and toms from the medium room, etc…) but I can’t figure out how to have those kits NOT have preset reverbs on them.  Am I missing something?
