Still can’t seem to figure this one out. See video. Hopefully this helps get me an answer.
Bingo! just finally figured out I needed to select ‘enable bleed from all instruments under the out 1/2 under Front. At least for the WalkTheEarth preset. it’s a matter of hitting the stock preset tom to see what mixer buses etc are triggered that dn get triggered by the added toms then clicking enable bleed from all instruments on that bus. Now they all sound consistent.
So I see now that the route mic thing does not copy amb and other affect settings and only copies mic position. I’m trying to wrap my head around the mixer more and understand better how to copy the sound settings between toms.
Hi Paul,
A ton of good points here, very little to add, check out the manual and search for “Add Instrument”, explains the process pretty clearly. One thing, if I may, when you have more hardware triggers than a preset/kit, say rack toms, add the same rack tom and change the pitch. If one doesn’t drastically deviate from the original, you end up with more sonic consistency. As Jack pointed out, you may need to “play” with MIDI a bit.

This is the same issue I posted in another thread. Points above are perfectly stated. An SDX pack is by no means always going to be load and play when you are using a custom e kit with more pads than what is in the kits. I have gotten really good at adding the kits and find the easiest way to map is to just go to midi settings, tap your pad then select the instrument from the dropdown to assign it. easy peasy, lemon squeezy. I had to use custom notes in edrummin to match SD3. then from there, I have had to use the midi mapper like I mentioned above to correct pads to play the correct sound. took a lot of playing around and reading etc but got it down pretty good.
Legacy of Rock at first, I was ready to sell it b/c o the lack of pads but now I understand even better why it’s like this and just need to nail down getting the consistency of sound on some of the presets. That said, I still need some clarification on this: “when you have more hardware triggers than a preset/kit, say rack toms, add the same rack tom and change the pitch”. Perhaps, I did it wrong but on some of the presets, the extra rack toms are dry and don’t have the amb etc applied like the stock ones. Is it actually possible to truly add a rack tom that will take on the presets of a stock one? Based on the add instruments section of the manual, it appears that can be accomplished with the Route Close Mics to Mixer Channels option? Hopefully, I can enable this after the fact. I will play with it some more. hopefully that is it. Still lots to learn w/ the mixing aspects of this.
I remembered I had a SATA/USB adapter which allows me to externally connect an SSD drive to any pc easily as an extra storage drive. So I decided to order another 1tb SSD for about $45 on Amazon. this will make it much easier to download and install the SDX libraries then copy them to the SD3 PC. Seems like if I plan to get more SDX packs, umma need more TB of space anyway. lol
this is nuts. it was working when I installed SD3 and the stock library so what the heck woulda changed? I have a usb SSD adapter that allows me to externally connect so I could copy as stated above to it that way. but I have to take the SSD out of my mini pc to bring it upstairs to the main PC. kinda annoying but whatever it takes I guess.
It’s a mini pc by Beelink. It worked fine when I installed SD3 and the stock libraries so not sure what might have changed. I need to see if there were recent windows updates applied. I know there is a known issue with some of the windows updates causing display issues but more for images not displaying on XPS documents. I don’t think it applies to this. I may just have to summon MS support for this. that should be fun.
I am beyond words of sheer frustration with this. I have tried every scaling and display resolution option and same issue no matter what. It has nothing to do with my display settings. I just finished the download for Death and Darkness and same issue on there. and same issue if I run via PM or directly. I don’t know what else to do but I just spent $350 on a 3 pack of SDX packs and I’m really anxious to start using them. I’m at a standstill w/ this. I think the installer is jacked up or something. I don’t know. I guess I will try downloading one of them on my other pc upstairs and see if that makes any difference. Ugh!!!!!
that is what I was thinking but I tried that for one other resolution. same issue. I’m already on the highest and recommended resolution. but yeah, it’s definitely hidden for some reason. really strange. I guess I will have to try all resolutions until hopefully one of them reveals the missing button. should not have to do any of this but I just want my darn SDX isntalled. lol thanks
Nope, regardless of what option I try, same issue. it’s as if there is a hidden button to install or continue. you can see that the bottom seems cut off. I tried changing my resolution but nothing I do seems to work. I tried another monitor but same issue so it’s not a monitor issue. This cutoff issue seems to only happen with the installer for the SDX pack. I sure hope there is a fix for this b/c I have no way of installing this right now. Dead in the water.
So I’m wondering, is it really worth purchasing these SDX packs? I mean, are they really that much better than the stock library? Prob a silly question but I’m asking anyway. LOL
anyone out there that can help with this please? Why is my one module not staying checked in midi settings? Seems like that two ED8 boxes that are daisy chained together default to being enabled when starting SD3 but the lone ED4 box connected to USB hub does not. I have to check it each time. Not life ending or anything but just super annoying to have to go and enable it every time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
OK, got it now! that was it. The more I play with this, the more I’m starting to understand the mixers better. Now I see that the Mics are routed to the buses and now that I have the buses all routed to output 1/2, I get one file and it has the mixer settings. Yay!
Thanks all for the help. Eventually I hope to start playing with Reaper a bit.
