Why is modern metal on sale for so cheap? Is it lesser quality than say duality etc? Just hesitant to take the plunge. lol
Just to re-iterate, time is of essence. trying to decide if I want to give an EZx pack a shot given the cheap price on sale and today is the last day. wish I had realized EZx worked with SD3 sooner. Is modern metal a good one to do this with based on my message?
If I do any custom mapping, that mapping is maintained with my previous post’s instructions.
OK, update:
For the most part, all mappings are retained on extras AND my cymbals are carried over. Only thing I really have to do is save 1 or 2 of the rack toms as a user instrument then load them and adjust tuning. This way the sound is consistent. Also have to remove and re-add the rotos as they sound like crap with the updated preset. Otherwise, this works great and minimal changes. Took me about 8 minutes tops to add another preset w/ all my additions.
Yeah, figured that out earlier. unfortunately, you have to go back and remap everything. it doesn’t retain the mappings. so it’s essentially close to the same amount of work. Oh well. Thanks all for the input. Still a lot of room for improvement.
Problem is, I don’t get that arrow/menu under the factory presets, only the user preset?? What am I doing wrong?
Seems rather odd to me that you can’t load any preset and retain added instruments at least within same library. Or can you and I’m just not understanding what was shared? I do get that each library has diff mixer settings but why not just blend the mixers or separate them out per drum so you can retain the presets per instrument? I guess I’m asking for too much.
This is why regular Drum Kits exist, Save a User Drum kit before switching Drums and Mixer presets. Then load your User Kit on top of it with one click.
So I have a preset with all my drums saved under user presets. Now I want to load another preset from the same library without dropping all the added instruments. What do I do, load the preset, then load the user preset on top of it? Or the other way around? How do I get to where I can have my added instruments loaded under a diff preset? And does the preset have to be in the same library? Just trying to wrap my head around this.
Each library was recorded in a different location using different equipment. As for why there’s such a substantial difference in volume I wonder the same thing because it does make it a little bit challenging at times. No I have managed to get used to just adjusting as needed. Usually you can adjust volume in the drum screen and the mixer screen. In some cases I have had to for instance adjust the volume on the mixer for the hi-hat. Because even in the drum screen with it turned all the way up it wasn’t loud enough.

Thanked by: etheorySolved! See this thread:

Oh wow! I had no idea there was a separate setting like this! I was going to display settings and looking at scaling which was at 100%. But the text size was at like 140% so I changed to 100% and boom! It works now! Took all of like 2 minutes to install both of my new libraries. Meanwhile in upstairs desktop pc land, it’s taking hrs to copy the progressive foundary library to the usb connected external SSD. LOL. You totally made my TG day sir! I was totally ignorant to that setting. First I have ever heard of it. Thanks a million!

Thanked by: Scott Eshleman and Olof HermanssonRemoving since I was looking in the wrong place. See next 2 responses.
Sorry, I forgot to mention, The issue was happening in Stand Alone. However, what I did was unplug all usb and plug them back in. then it seems to be OK at the moment. It’s a beelink mini pc. Will ‘play by ear’ lol and see what happens. eventually, I plan to get a better pc setup but not in me budget this year.
I just purchased a 2TB Samsung EVO Plus on which I put all my SD3 Libraries and samples etc. pretty much just SD3 files. I did a system migration from my original 500 gb that came with the beelink and put that on a 1tb SATA SSD to be used for just the OS. So running SD3 on a gen4 M2 PCIe (also supports Gen5 so it will be moved to my future pc build if/when I get around to it) I used Diskgenius to clone the OS to the SATA SSD which was pretty painless (and free!) only thing I had to do was convert the partition to GPT on the SATA first, since Windows 11 only supports one MBR partition apparently. The key is making sure the drive letter is the same as it was before so I don’t have to reload any of my external samples and so it can find the libraries like before. Anyway, definitely better load time. I went from around 20 to 30 seconds to between 8 and 12 average loading my many instruments for my large kit on various D&D, Legacy of Rock, Fields of Rock libraries/presets. And now I have ample room to add a few more libraries when I decide to purchase more.
Worked with tech support and they were able to recreate and are submitting to development as a defect. For some reason, when you load stacked samples on a default preset, it initially loads with no routing. Then if you remove the instrument and add it again, the routing is there and it works. Only seems to happen with default presets. Nonetheless, the workaround works and Dev is aware. Thanks all for trying. I know this was a weird one.

Thanked by: drumjack52 and Scott EshlemanDo you have any mixer channels hidden? If so unhide everything and see if anything untoward pops up. Are you caching anything? FYI when I try your download (even dismissing the missing samples warning) I get several pads on the left side that make no sound. Is it possible that something in the stack is muted? Not that familiar with stacks.
I checked all hidden mixers. I tried routing to Rack Tom 2 and still, nothing. Makes no sense at all. b/c it was working when I first set it up. I always test everything out as I am adding them. so I’m at a complete an utter frustrated loss! And all tech support told me was I had no mic routing set which is correct but again, it was routed before, and if I route it again, it still does not work. yet the pad lights up on the SD3 instrument graphic when I strike the drum. so it knows it’s there. And just to re-iterate, same samples work fine on other presets. I am just beside myself w/ this one. Can’t believe nobody knows what the issue is, not even Toontrack. like WTH?
