Hi John, i had this suggested by someone on the Avid forum but this sadly didnt help matters

When you click a drum in the interface, it’s with full (127) velocity.
Adding a note with the Pencil Tool in Pro Tools is probably with a Default velocity of 60 or 80.
Either you change the Default note on velocity value in the Pro Tools preferences or you change the velocity of the notes in the Velocity lane of the Instrument Track.
