REAPER has recently added some MIDI Editor improvements that directly benefits EZdrummer. Most notably, a new “drum note mode”, which gives you the option to use the popular diamond shapes for drum notes. You can now also customize the color scheme of the MIDI Editor separately from the rest of the application.

I am not familiar with the Echo Mia or it’s “virtual outs”. But REAPER can expose as many audio outputs that you have available and assign each one of those to a track or bus. But first you have to tell REAPER what inputs/outputs that you want available for use. You do this by going to REAPER’s Preferences|Audio|Device settings dialog box and choosing the first and last inputs & outputs that you want to have available from the applicable drop down menu’s. Then you mouse click on the I/O icon, for each track, to open it’s dialog box and choose the routing scheme that you want to use for that track.

I created a short video on setting up and using EZdrummer in REAPER last Summer and just
never got around to posting it. It is still relevant and provides useful information, so I decided
to upload it to youtube:

One last thing, make absolutely sure you are using REAPER’s own native VSTi plugin implementation and not some third party wrappers. If you have third party DX-VST wrappers (ala Cakewalk/Spin Audio etc)installed, REAPER will pick those up when plugin scanning and show them as VST:VST xxxx, with VST listed twice. Also, DX/DXi plugins will be listed as DX: VST xxxx or DXi: VSTi xxxx, with VST/VSTi listed in the name. Avoid using these type plugins as they will tend to cause unpredictable behavior and even crashes if used in REAPER. Stick to using REAPER’s own native VST/VSTi/DX/DXi plugin support. They will always look like this:
VST: xxxxx
VSTi: xxxxx
DX: xxxxx
DXi: xxxxx
…….with the plugin type listed once in the plugin name. The only ezdrummer plugin that you should be using in REAPER should look like this, from the VSTi folder:
VSTi: Dfh Sampler(Toontrack)(16 out)

Here is an EZDrummer video demonstrating different ways to use it while
in REAPER:
http://www.rocket-music.com/HoleVids/EZ-Backing.wmv
The video is pretty relevant, the only thing I would add/change would
be that, like in most DAW hosts these days, you can simply left
mouse click & drag the edges, of the inserted MIDI loop clip to drag it
in/out. In the video, the author demonstrates the old way (copy/paste method).
There is an option in REAPER’s Preferences|Project Defaults that needs to be
enabled Enable loop for imported items, for auto looping to work.

You can now easily create/save your own user defined MIDI/drum maps in REAPER using a new
MIDI note namer plugin. You can find all the details/setup info and some EZD drums maps that
I created (Post #32) in this thread:
