It’s not a problem when things are playing – it’s quite a nice effect. It’s that I still hear it when nothing is playing 🙂

It doesn’t seem to make any difference (whether pressing X or selecting stop all audio).

I still get constant output – around -45db which is “pumping” in and out – presumably something to do with the effects in SD3? But the SD3 mixer itself shows no output when nothing is playing, and there are no other plugins on any of the instances.

The SD3 preset is “Old Skool”, if that is useful.

Edit: seems to be linked to the “Fat Muff” plugin in SD3…

Thanks Shootie – sorry if I wasn’t clear. I’m working in Logic, using SD3 as a plugin. Everything works perfectly until I am not playing any audio. Then I hear effects from the plugin, even though everything has stopped. For example, I could be using a distorted drum preset in SD3 or one with some kind of compression effect, I’ll be recording or listening back to something, hit spacebar to stop, and I’ll still hear the distortion or the push/pull sound of the compressor. It’s still feeding through my meters too – so the SD3 plugin channel strip will show the sound there (i.e. it won’t reduce down to “zero”).

Does Drummer’s mapping match that of SD3?

    Thanks both.

I don’t use Logic’s Drum Designer or Drummer tool so that makes it a little simpler for me 🙂

Totally agree – the environment looks like it hasn’t been touched by the developers for a long, long time.

    Thanks Jord.

I’m still not quite understanding – does the MIDI recorded directly in SD3 (i.e. in the song track) match that in the DAW track?

I thought that while I could set the DAW to switch off merge or use takes, SD3 would just overlay data regardless.

The reason I’m asking all of this is that I thought the benefit of recording directly into SD3’s song track was that SD3 would use the V-Drums preset and so it would reduce a lot of the double hits and general craziness.

Thanks MintberryCrunch, could you explain a bit more please?

I thought the benefit of recording directly into SD3 was that I could use the TD17 preset and so avoid crazy double hits and MIDI notes triggered all over the place 🙂

Ah – I think I may have found the answer. Reposting it here in case it helps anybody. From Henrik way back in 2018:

“I will write this up, since it’s something we need to fix! In the meantime, you can avoid this by recording the MIDI to a DAW track instead of using the Superior Drummer 3 track. They’ll behave in the way you want.

When done, to get the MIDI to Superior Drummer 3, you can record enabled SD3, having Follow Host enabled, and then press play in the DAW.”

it’s a workaround, but it works fine 🙂

Thank you Jord, that is really helpful.

It wasn’t that I wanted to use it with Logic’s Drummer, but with Logic’s Drum Machine Designer – that’s my fault for getting the two plug-ins mixed up.

I think that what I am really asking is whether there’s an easy way of mapping SD3 to Logic’s Step Sequencer. It doesn’t seem to be possible to rename the key names. My goal is to have the drum grid tools that are in Logic’s Drum Machine designer, but with fully labelled SD3 samples!

Billy86 – I’m afraid it was already set to that – I think the issue is like Jord said – that the key commands in SD3 don’t respond to MIDI commands. If I use the M32 controls within Logic, they control Logic as a whole, rather than the controls within SD3. Thank you, though – appreciate your suggestion.
