Yes. This is what I do, too. I load four or five kits in Ableton Live (separate channels and SD3 plugins) so that everything is loaded and just switch the arming when I change kits. I haven’t connected a footswitch, but I could. The trick is having a laptop with enough power and RAM. I use an M1 MacBook pro with 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD.

    I think I’ve got it.

I learned that the midi mapping associated with the drum set preset overrides the global midi mapping settings. How did I learn this gem? I read the manual.

I’m going to delete the drumset preset-specific midi mappings, which should allow the global midi mappings to work.

    Fingers crossed.

I’m losing my mind over this.

Roland TD-30 midi into a FocusRight Scarlett USB into my laptop. I define my midi map by using the TD-30 preset and modifying slightly because I’m using a couple extra cymbals in aux 1 and 2 of the module. I save the midi preset under a different name.

Meanwhile I’ve got all my drumset presets customized and saved. I save everything in four places — the midi preset, the midi mapping to the right of the drumset, the drumset presets and the file. I’m using two libraries, the core sd3 and Fields of Rock SDX.

I turn everything off. I turn everything on.

Four of my cymbals lost their mapping — only the crashes. The HH, ride and all the drums are fine.

Get this: I only lost the mapping for the core SD3 library drumset presets. The Fields of Rock SDX preset remains mapped.

Any ideas so I don’t have to map four cymbals for every preset every gig?

I’ve had the same experience recently because I’m using my td-30 module and not using the sd3 mapping. For every preset kit that I use, I’ve had to custom map the rims and cymbals.
