How is your external drive formatted? If it is anything other than APFS then you are probably going to experience issues such as this.

    Basically as John said.

in this case, if it is EZ Drummer 2, get the sender to save an EZ Drummer project (hopefully the MIDI is on the EZ Drummer timeline) alongside the GarageBand project and you will have to create a new EZ Drummer 3 track in GarageBand and import the EZ Drummer project into it.

If you do not see EZ Drummer 3 In your list of software instruments in GarageBand, run the installer in customized mode and make sure AU is selected. You may also have to clear out your AU cache.

No use checking file paths because there’s only one place that it should be. Even if it is there as you say, the install might either be incomplete or corrupt. The only real check is if it validates in GarageBand.

I would look more along the lines of any progressive or hard rock type of EZX. One of the more recent releases, such as Hard Rock, may be suitable to what you are looking for.

Best to use an audio interface with monitor output with your Mac and not the drum module to start. From there, you should be able to plug the outputs from your monitor output the inputs of your mixer and your volume should be fine. Plenty of budget freiendly interfaces. When I am using a portable interface, rather than my studio one, I use either a UA Volt 276 or Lewitt Connect (I have a Connect 6, but the Connect 2 should do you well).

Hard to tell there is not much detail and what you were trying to do. Are you trying to play EZ Keys inside band in a box or standalone?

Considering the specifics that the OP mentioned, I think we’re safe with the SDX that was recommended. in many cases when recommending an SDX, it is far more than the drums themselves. You will also have the producer’s recording techniques and their particularly recording chain as well as the studio room itself, since this is what the end user is often hearing.

Totally agree! The secret to that effect is subtlety.

Of course you can go extreme on things like timpani for that cartoonish type of sound. 😀

Bends can be emulated in some ways using the pitch envelope property.

In short, plug-ins cannot control their host environment.

One solution is to learn and utilize the transport and timeline key commands in your DAW to get around. Alternatively you can use a control surface to get around your DAW. Either way EZ Drummer will follow the host (when Follow Host is enabled).

There are plenty of decent USB class compliant interfaces that you can just plug in and go. I have a Lewitt Connect as well as a VOLT that I can take with me when I’m not hooked up in the studio. They sound great and are bus powered.

The challenge however might be latency from you computer due to its age and using older USB ports.

As far as that sound, much of that has more to do with the producers and engineers. Seeing as you mentioned Aja, you would probably want to look at an SDX like State of the Art since Elliot Scheiner was The engineer behind groups like Steely Dan.

It’s also worth noting that even if you match the kit pieces, if you’re not using grooves in the  styles of Gadd and Porcaro, it won’t sound like them.
