Have you imported your MIDI into EZBass to see where it lies in the grid editor?

if you have not done any of the things we have recommended, how can we help you? Trying to tell us that it doesn’t work for a specific DAW is pointless if you’re not willing to figure out what is going on.

Sorry but Brad is correct on this one. Your notes are not being played in the correct octave in EZBass. It is irregardless of whatever instrument, which you don’t state,  you are using to compare bass notes in your DAW. EZBass is not the issue here.

Not to mention that if you are getting some sort of choppy performance, your MIDI notes are most likely trampling on a bunch of key switches that are making the bass guitar all whacked out.

It also has nothing to do with comparing how EZ Drummer is working. It does raise the question if you are using the same MIDI file to compare.

The search bar at the top searches the site and the forums. When you select “View All Results” you will get to an advanced search page.

Shootie school has plenty of videos on YouTube to get you going with EZ Drummer.

Easiest way to get going it to go the grooves tab and drag some grooves to your track. There’s your song.

With “note assignments” are you referring to MIDI notes or articulations?

Same here. The plugin is not an added variable in my case. In many mixing cases, I will have various mix templates and patches already set up and ready to mix, so the plugin isn’t much of a variable in this case.

I render everything sample based to audio so I don’t have to worry about going back to a mix and missing something or not having something plugin-wise. Like I mentioned I treat sample-based drums like real drums – I mean how many of us have access to a real drummer and kit 24/7?

Rendering does the exact opposite for me. It makes me feel distanced from the drummer, as well as the studio that it was recorded in. Keeping it within the plug-in allows me to further enhance the drummer’s nuances as required for the song. That’s what keeps it real for me.

I would agree with Mark. Going multi out into my DAW gives me all of the mixing choices that I need. I tend to mix using a combination of the built-in plug-ins in Superior Drummer combined with the plug-ins within my DAW. However, I do not see the need for me to render my drums to audio.

It sounds like you’re doing things the hard way.  There’s should be no confusion issues if you are setting up channel routings from Superior Drummer into your DAW. Only reason I’m sticking to this option rather than mixing in Superior Drummer is because of some control issues of kit pieces. In this case, the answer is not necessarily velocity by itself, but a combination of processing and automation. I would suggest if you unsure of either, look up some mixing courses as there should be plenty in your genre.

ToonTrack has plenty of videos outlining the various capabilities of Superior Drummer.

As for a “demo” song, drag a template from the Song Creator to your timeline. Instant demo.

It sounds more like a misunderstanding of what MIDI is all about. If you load a groove for brushes and your kit is sticks, you’re not going to get a brush sound. Similarly, if you load a jazz type of brush groove and you have a rock kit with brushes, don’t expect it to sound the same.

As for the original post, I can live with ToonTrack’s reasoning behind needing to keep things separate. I usually prefer to grab a library by its sound or producer than by preset name, but that’s my preference. What I would have liked to have seen is associating the preset document file with Superior Drummer, such as using a file extension, so I could set up a search shortcut in my Finder to order to aggregate my presets in a single Finder window while at the same time being able to open Superior Drummer and loading the preset by clicking on the file.

It appears you were also using a couple of EZXs. That could also introduce their own routings. Wonder if that’s a third party template.
