What can I say other than I love it! Great tune; great arrangement.

Only thing I can think of is needing a bit more bass guitar balancing out the low mids. Just my opinion, however.

    Otherwise, excellent tune.

The term is referred to as a “bark“, and can be programmed in the grid editor with an open articulation followed by a close pedal articulation shortly after. As to how far apart you want these two articulations, depends on how long you want the hi-hat to be open.

The short answer is yes you can for both.

For adding an kit piece, there is a drop-down in the upper left corner that has “Add instrument” or something like that.

to route a kit piece to custom channels, right-click the instrument and select “Route instrument microphones”

Even after 30+ years, I’m still finding something new in Logic. Couple this with everything Apple has added, such as MIDI scripting, makes going deep scratching the surface.

Your loop probably cleaned up because of where the threshold in the tracker was set. If you are looking to use your loop, you can probably save yourself some trouble and simply import the loop into your DAW and apply a noise gate.

    It happens. 🙂

Hopefully my other multi-out suggestions worked for you.

Not seeing any issue here using Tap2Find within Logic. I hear the metronome. If you’re using multiple outs, check to ensure your main instrument channel is turned up (metronome plays through outputs 1/2).

Hard to tell without seeing how you actually have everything wired up. Zip up a Logic project with what you are trying to do and post it.

You forgot the most important piece of equipment: your ears.

Punch will be defined more by your mids in your entire mix. That is also where you will encounter a huge source of mud which will mask out your punch. When last I heard one of your mixes, I had observed a ton of midrange mud. You need to get rid of this first. Among my favourite mix videos, I would recommend purchasing Bob Marlette’s Mixing Modern Rock. Full of insight and technique.

That being said, I get all of my punch done inside SD3.

I will just add to this in the fact that changes to CoreAudio and Logic have indeed been happening. Most recent changes in Logic have been unlimited audio track count and the number of aux channels increased from 255 to 64K. When other CoreAudio compliant DAWs follow suit, it’s pretty certain that software developers will increase their output capabilities without having to worry about future changes to CoreAudio.

So, I’m not saying it can’t be done. I’m saying you need to be patient.

Because it short circuits CoreAudio which is an issue with various plug-in developers every time Apple updates either OSX or Logic.

And like I said, I already provided a workaround for Logic

Yes, SD3 will follows all variations within a Logic Tempo track. I’m often using it around a tempo track that was automatically mapped around a guitar guide track, which is very handy because I don’t have to think about the tempo. Logic is excellent that way.

Sorry, should have made it a little clearer on what needed to be done. I obviously created a misunderstanding in my earlier post, and should have clarified this extra step. Sorry. You need to route your SD3 multi-out into a bus. Logic’s default setting is to create a new aux track when you assign a bus. However, if it didn’t, simply create a new aux track in the mixer and assign the input to that bus. In fact, you will want to have two aux tracks. The Stereo Link is actually a button in itself. Click on it and it will show you a bunch of input options. From there, you can select Right or Left.

Do yourself a favour: once you set this all up, either create a track stack or a template and save it for later recall.

This is not an SD3 limitation, or a Logic limitation at that. This is a CoreAudio limitation that has been lingering since the early 16-bit days pre-Intel. While Apple has address many other CoreAudio issues, this has not yet been on their radar.

That limitation found its way into Logic in 2007 as Apple strives to make it fully CoreAudio compliant.

However, had you been posting within the actual SD3 help forum, I could refer you to a thread that I have been involved showing how to squeeze a few mono outs in Logic thus giving you more outputs.

As with any MIDI controller, you want to adjust the velocity curve to match your playing. The curve on your iRig is probably set to linear. You want to set it to something like Soft (that’s what it is on my Maschine controllers). If you have a sensitivity adjustment, I would suggest turning that up as well.
