Hi Mattias,
So why does selecting all notes in the grid and then turning the damping value to ‘-127’ NOT remove ALL damping?
See attached pic. That seems to me to be the most logical way to do it.
How exactly do I ‘remove all damping nodes’ to achieve no damping on any notes and then apply the same damping value to all notes?

Yes, started in v1.1.o, now on v1.1.1.
Same problem in standalone mode.
The file is attached.
I selected all notes in the Grid editor and set the damping value to ’50’
Listen to what happens at bar 25, and I think something already changes at bar 21.
Well I tried to attach the file but your forum does not allow .EZBP files to be attached!

Hi Scott,
I’m using EZBass as a plugin within Nuendo.
The bass line is entirely contained within EZBass – because of the unique articulations in EZB.
There are no midi tracks sending anything to the EZBass track.
If I highlight all notes in the Grid Editor and change the Damping value to -127, (I think) that all notes are ringing in the same manner, but if I change the Damping value to something like ‘0’ or ’50’ for all notes the damping effect seems to randomly vary as the track is played from partially damped to very damped.
I’ve now spent two days trying to get a uniformly damped bass sound in EZbass without success so may be forced to go back to Spectrasonics Trilian to finish this mix.
Not to confuse the above issue, I’ve recently discovered that if a Nuendo project containing an EZBass track is saved, closed and then re-opened, the Ezbass track will not contain the last changes made in EZbass so the previous Damping settings will not be there, which is very worrying. Even after setting the EZBass project as ‘Default Project’ before closing the Nuendo project , when the project is re-opened the project displayed in EZBass is not the one that was last saved, which one would expect it to be. It is necessary to go and re-open the ‘Default Project’. All very confusing and not what is generally expected when using plugins within a DAW.

Are you able to help with the damping question?

What do the updates do? Add string positioning?

It is just when it encounters more than one note played at the same time, in my case just two notes together – only one of the notes is imported and it is always an octave lower than actually played. Monophonic notes are imported correctly.

That’s disappointing. Are there any plans to make it polyphonic?
I also notice that when EZB chooses a note to import from a chord (which seems to be random), the note is placed one octave below the actual pitch of the note, which is weird. Is it possible for ‘Audio Tracker’ to import the chosen note from a chord at the correct pitch?

The note samples are from the same sample pool regardless of how it “looks” on the interface so it really doesn’t matter which virtual string is played…in other words, the open A, and the same fretted A are the same.
Wow! That and the poor selection of chords makes EZBass not much more than a toy at the moment, in my opinion. It needs a serious update already.

Thanked by: rictus and djrbfmThanks, that does work but it would be much better if the Audio Tracker would only insert a part that was the same size as the audio that was actually imported, rather than a load of redundant space. Perhaps this could be implemented in a future update.

Thanks for the response Olof, but your suggestion does not solve the problem.
In the Song Track I already have 16 bars of Midi.
After selecting ‘New Session’ I import bars 17-20 from Nuendo into the Audio Tracker. This works correctly (they are shown as bars 17-20 in the Audio Tracker), but when ‘Add Midi to Song Track’ is selected it DOES add the four bars (17-20) but with 16 empty bars before it! – It is adding 16 empty bars from the beginning of the song before inserting the actual midi notes. The midi notes from the second session are placed at bar 33 instead of bar 17.
Is this a bug or do I need to do something else to get the midi notes inserted at the correct place in the Song Track?.
Asa.

Jord and Mark,
Thanks for your advice. I’ve really appreciated your conversation about this.
I’ve tried both of your suggestions and found that increasing the ‘sensitivity’ of the individual drums on the TD-20X appears to give me better levels in SD3 without having too much impact on using the TD-20X’s own sounds through the Roland amps (it may even have improved the response), and without having to mess with the default SD3 settings.
I’ll play with this for awhile and see how it goes.
Many thanks.

You probably want to check the velocity mappings in the MIDI/e-drum settings for that preset and customize them to your playing (and save it as a user preset).
jord
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll give it a try.
Do you mean the Velocity tab on Settings – Midi In/E-Drums screen?
I’m not clear what’s going on here so need to study the user guide to get to understand it.
At the moment the Roland pads are working much better with the built-in TD-20X sounds.
