When I choke the cymbal there is no MID change
Just remap the midi data and chokes will work with Alesis module.
No one has any idea?
You can build this with audioFX using a capable DAW (…or I can build it for you if you have no idea about midi-controlling audioFX…). 🙂
E-drummers who play a single bassdrum pad can have a A-B alternation kick engine with any (kick)drums of their choice: I’ve built a midi engine which is available for the DAWs ( “Cubase Artist/Pro” , “Logic Pro X” , “Reaper” , “Bidule” ). And for Single Bassdrum parts (on which you want to stop the alternating engine so that only one kick sound remains) you can toggle the engine by pad stroke ( = dedicated control pad/zone (i.e. floor tom rim) which can also additionally be mapped to a sound / of course toggling while playing) and have the 1-sound kick again. Hitting the same control pad/zone again will activate the A-B-alternation engine again. Thanked by: Jeremy_46Oh wow @MintberryCrunch you have Reaper support now? Count me in! So very keen. My email address is: gigs@dutchy.lighting Thank you!
Thanks. E-Mail sent.
MintberryCrunch,
I am interested in your workaround.
Will this also work for Universal Audio’s Luna?
Thanks.
Supported DAWs: “Cubase Artist/Pro” , “Logic Pro X” , “Reaper” , “Bidule”
Here is a vid dedicated to the issue and the fix (it’s featuring EZDrummer2 but SD2/3 hihat engine is basically the same regarding the issue).
Final question is: does it work in realtime, can I listen to the “fixed” hihat sound while I’m playing?
Yes of course: it’s a fix for e-drumming. 🙂

Thanked by: kenny.fowlerStudioOne implemented PolyPressure very short time ago. Maybe it is buggy!?
Want it fixed?:
Check out the “Alesis-Medeli cymbal choke bug fix” on the FB group “The Software Drumming Forum – tips & tricks + discussing drum samplers” 🙂
When I listen to my TD-11 hi-hat, it doesn’t sound like it is fading between different levels of openness. If I strike the hi-hat fully opened and then press the pedal slowly to the next position, the same open sample rings out anyway. I have to press the pedal below a threshold to close it. No matter the pedal position when I’m striking the hi-hat, that sample will ring out fully unless I close the hi-hat to a certain degree. This is not completely realistic, but I’ve gotten used to it and in my opinion, that sound better than jumping between different levels of openness after the hit.
There is a fix that will eliminate the transition artifacts and 1:1 features the behaviour of the module hihat. You will also be able to do fast stepping without any annoying ringing artifacts (“open pedal” sounds) and still won’t lose the ability of playing hihat splashes.
Check the FB group “The Software Drumming Forum – tips & tricks + discussing drum samplers” for further info.
Why would you want to use the CC zones (pic1 – there is also not the right CC number set)?
There is the snare zones tab that is related to the “snare trigger” articulation. Did you set that? (resp. the right midi note -> it’s note number 6 by default)
