Ahah! The sync file changes was the part I was missing. I figured it would be something silly. I had trying just dragging them around in explorer initially but even restarting superior would not trigger them to update. Doing the sync manually has it functioning correctly though. Thank you!

This happens when dragging from its current user midi folder to the new subfolder. So the overall workflow:

1. Create a new drum part in the timeline.
2. Drag to user Midi folder and assign it a useful name.
3. Create a sub folder
4. Drag the file from its current location in user midi to the subfolder.
5. A copy of the file appears in subfolder, with name “empty block”. Original file remains in original place.
