Hi Mr. Ames,
GB does not load VST plugins but AU Components.
The correct location for the AU would be ‘Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components’ and the default location for the EZdrummer folder (containing all EZX:s and MIDI) would be ‘Mac HD/Library/Application Support’.
But this should all be installed correctly without any user intervention.
GB does, however, use the AU cache like Logic, so please see this FAQ to see if the info will help you:

Hey, John.
Thanks for your advice. I actually sent in a support ticket and the response I got was very much in line with your suggestions, only specific to GarageBand. Deleting the GB cache files did the trick.
My only problem now is that I’m pushing GB (6.0.5) to its limits, so I think it’s time to upgrade to Mac OS 10.9 and GB 10 (64 bit) so I won’t run into the dreaded “You are running too many tracks and virtual instruments.” message.
Thanks again.

1. Try to locate the path where the new ezdrummer2 vst has been placed during installation.
2. Check if GarageBand is expecting vst plugins in that folder.
Hi.
1. I did check and all the EZD2 files are where they should be.
2. Not sure how I can check if GB is expecting VST plugins in the location they’re in, but I do know that everything worked fine with the demo, (which placed all support files in the same locations).
Any more suggestions?
So far my only option has been to export the project as midi file and use it as a track in GB. Don’t know why the dropouts are happening. FWIW, I used to work for apple at the genius bar (dumbest employee title EVAH!) so I’m Mac savvy.
Would love to find a reliable fix, but methinks the problem may lie in the fact that GB 6.0.5 runs inn 32 bit mode and therefore can only address so much RAM. It could be that this would not be an issue using the new version of GB, but that would break compatibility with IK Multimedia’s Amplitiube, which is a deal breaker for me. No offense to other company’s offerings for guitar emulation software, but Amplitiube is head and shoulders above all others.
Would love to hear any further suggestions/ideas.
