We already have it! Why do I need a damn logo to remind me. Tell your marketing people to F*** O** and fix the crap they have caused. You have once again broken a working product because of madness. Every time I load my stuff the drums don’t work until I go into SD3. Are you actually adults!

To update I’m on windows 11 with Cubase 11 and I don’t have to do anything for it to work. The splash screen disappears fairly quick.

Take it easy – no one else is seeing the problem you’re supposedly having. I’d suggest taking this up with Toontrack tech support.

Please remove the splash screen from sd3 plugin. This is a step back, against workflow.

At first I didn’t mind the splash screen but it’s beyond annoying now. PLEASE get rid of it now!

The splash screen was added to the standalone because it could otherwise seem like nothing was happening for a few seconds when the standalone was being opened. The splash screen does not add any time to the opening (and does not require or respond to any interaction).
As for the plug-in: When the plug-in window is opened for the first time, it takes time to prepare the GUI (to load and scale all images, etc.). In 3.3.1, this happened before the window appeared, so there was a delay when you tried to open the window for the first time until it appeared, and when it appeared, the GUI was all ready to be used. In 3.3.2, the window instead appears immediately (with the logo) and then the preparation of the GUI takes place. The logo is only shown for as long as the real GUI is not ready. So the total time for the real GUI to open in 3.3.1 and in 3.3.2 is about the same.
This change was mainly done for speeding up the opening of VST 3 on Windows where the hosts set the “DPI scale” for the plug-in immediately after opening it – something we added proper support for in 3.3.2 – so to avoid a costly “rescaling” (like what happens when you manually change the scale in SD3), we can now build the GUI of the VST 3 with the right scale at once. We figured it would be better to show a logo than an empty window while the real GUI is being prepared.

Thanks for the explanation but it’s still a gross error to have this splash screen. You could have given the end user the ability to disable the splash screen. SD3 was MUCH better without it.

I think that’s a reasonable explanation and the splash screen causes me no problems.

I agree – causes me no issue and why not utilise the marketing opportunity

Every time I open Cubase 12 Pro the SD3 plugin will not work until I actually go into it. If I press play in Cubase everything plays except SD3. I have no other plugins that behave like that. Because they have more sense than to destroy the users work flow with their product. I have been using Steinberg VST SDK for years. I have moved two products to VST3 in the last 19 months. I don’t accept that this added nagging splash screen needs to there for any of the reasons you gave. IT IS ANNOYING! That is why no one else is crazy enough to release stuff like this.

You do know of all the people who have posted in this thread that you’re the only one seeing this supposed problem right? Are you seeing this before or after messing about with the VST SDK?

I am unable to test this on Windows now but I have double-checked that the VST3 on Mac plays fine after loading a project without having opened the SD3 window, and nobody else has reported such an issue. I fail to see how showing a logo when opening the window would cause the sounds to stop working earlier. It simply can’t be related. SD3 itself does not require the GUI to be opened before it can play.
The logo is just meant to say that the GUI is being loaded, instead of showing an empty window which could potentially be interpreted as something being broken. It’s not meant as marketing either – it’s just the logo of the plug-in which is being opened!
Now, to try to solve your issue, how long have you tried waiting after opening the project and starting playback? It may take some time for SD3 to load all the sounds.
After waiting a long time and verifying that there still is no sound, when you open the SD3 window and can see the sound loading bar, how far has it come – do the sounds just begin to load then or are they already fully loaded (or somewhere between)?
Could there be some (new?) feature in Cubase that it does not load an instrument until you open its GUI or there is MIDI on its track (in case you only have MIDI on the song track inside SD3)?

You can’t use the SDK on a finished VST, you only use it to build a VST. I have not messed with anything as you choose to put it! As I have said after updating to 3.3.2 when I go into Cubase 12 Pro and press play the drums do not start. Because the plugin is waiting for me to into to it and click the Nag screen. It is that simple. Once I have completed this it works as normal. I would suggest the programmers use a timer or disable this in the plugin. This is a massive disruption to work flow. Plus if you read the comments. It isn’t just me is it!

It dosent matter how long I wait. It will not start working until I actually open SD3. Everything is loaded and ready to go. I will try a complete unistall and try from scratch.
Olof …
When I click on the SD3 plugin it comes up on the nag/splash screen. When I click on that it loads in a few seconds. When you say it can take time to load I assume you mean less than 15 mins.

I’ve read the comments in this thread and it is just you that is supposedly having this problem. Both Mac and Windows users aren’t having an issue. Does Cubase have a dynamic plugin processing option? If so disable it and see what happens.
