bpjacobsenI noticed while going through most of the acoustic presets, there are select few that when you turn one of the ambience switches down, it not only removes most if not all ambience from snare and toms, but it seems to also turn the cymbals off. Why? and how do I turn the ambience off on those presets without turning off cymbals?

Where are you turning the ambience down – it’s bus or what?

Just the stock sd3 library and in the mixers wherever I see the word Ambience. Some of them when turned down, turns off cymbals.

drumjack52I see that depending on the stock library kits the ambient channels have bleed level controls for cymbals but that’s not the direct feed from the cymbals. The only direct feed for the cymbals that I see is/are the overheads mixed channels. Check the mixer routing to see that nothing weird is going on.

Bear-Faced CowNot necessarily true. Cymbals can be routed into any ambient channel. However, some of the presets might use only the cymbals in the ambience because they match the sound that was intended. Not every preset needs to use close mic’d cymbals. Thus they wouldn’t need to load them.
