It depends on how deep you want to get into music composition. For me, I looked into Cakewalk music software for many years now and have upgraded to Cakewalk’s Sonar X1. It’s is a little pricey. There are others you can buy if you don’t want to spend that much money. Toontrack can also guide you as well as other forum members. If you downloaded ezdrummer, it should come with a program you can open it with, but you have to follow directions properly.

Check the product page and click the ‘Compatibility’ tab. Any of the supported host sequencers will do fine.

In addition, you can use Toontrack’s free host, Solo, which can be downloaded from your TT account. It may or may not be useful to you as it is designed for e-drums.

The compatibility page says Acid Pro/Studio [version 7 or higher] will work. . .is the above link the same product???

Yes, Acid Pro 7 is supported. If you want to try out a DAW before buying it, Reaper let’s you demo for as long as you want. http://www.reaper.fm/

Thanks. Talked to a friend of mine on another forum and he said to go with Reaper too!

Okay. . .so I purchased Reaper and successfully installed it. I already downloaded EZdrummer as well. Since I am not very familiar with computers I don’t know how to install it. What to do?

Never mind I figured it out. I went to the FAQ link and read the instructions on what to do.

It’s amazing what can happen when one follows instructions.

Assuming you can locate your downloads:
First run the Full Download installer exe, then apply the latest update (1.3.1).

Sorry. . .but I don’t know how to locate my downloads. Please explain.

    Thanks again for your help.

There are a couple of free sequencers such as Audigy or N-Track that I think have VST support. Audigy is a great program with a LOT of features.

It would help to know whether you are on a PC or Mac.
I’m a Sonar user as well but started off with a much cheaper version probably years ago on Windows 95 and the upgrade prices were great when on sale. I’m up to Sonar X1d Producer Extended now and I don’t think I’ve ever put out a hundred dollars in one year. (At least for the DAW program, not including EZXs and other VSTs)

Depending on what kind of music you’re creating I will say quite loudly that I think EZ Keys is maybe the coolest VST I’ve ever owned. The Toontrack programs are all great though.

Oh? I got the impression you got sorted when reading the FAQ?

Anyways, to install EZdrummer you either must locate the ‘TT106_EZdrummer_WIN.zip’ file you downloaded earlier or download it again. Un-zip it first and then run the installer inside. Then download the 1.3.1 update and un-zip and install.

Thanks John. My bad. I already have everything up and running since I was able to unzip the download after reading the FAQ’s. My original problem was that I didn’t know how to unzip the file but the FAQ helped me out and now I am using Reaper as my sequencer to record my drum tracks.
