    Haha yes, pretty much.

The Vintage and Modern kits that EZD2 comes with are both great, and will cover a lot of bases, so you may not have to buy anything else beyond that for a while, unless you’re going for a specific sound. Midi packs are a good way to get something now out of the kits you already have

A cool new feature of EZDrummer2 is found on the [SEARCH] tab called, “Show Web Shop MIDI”.
This will allow you to preview in full MIDI packs that you haven’t purchased and they can be included in your “Tap2Find” searches for relevance to your project(s).

Personally, if a particular MIDI pack interests me, and it is available as part of an EZX, I’ll buy the EZX.
When they’re on sale, an EZX sound library only costs $10-20 more than its associated MIDI pack.
IMHO, some of the MIDI styles really shine best when played on their partnered kit(s); i.e. the Indie Folk EZX or The Blues EZX.
Other MIDI packs are only truly completed and are transformed when played on their partnered kit(s); i.e., the Latin Percussion EZX.
but that’s just me….your methodology will work as well.

appreciate the responses guys, I can see the benefits in getting the EZX pack as advised. I am getting a few soon, but will wait when the EZX are on sale for the less desired EZX’s.

I haven’t seen the EZX on sale yet just $10-$20 more than midi packs.
