Where did my favorites go? I spent weeks auditioning and they are gone.

I guess losing weeks of auditions is not a big deal to some. I’m switching to Finder with MIDI Player X. I can search files by name, audition them, and rate by multiple colors. And most importantly, I won’t lose my work. Plus there is a midi out that feeds into Superior Drummer. It’s working much better than the Superior Drummer browser for auditioning and searching.

It’s work spectacularly. I am auditioning all the midi files from Finder playing in SD3. I can tag all the ones I like with whatever tag. The one tag that I like the most is one-pass for all the items I audition and but don’t select as a favorite. This way I can exclude those from future auditions.

I have just read these 2 posts and wanted to confirm exactly what it is that may be lost as I don’t have the required back up prior to installing 3.3.0. I am nervous about what I may have lost having spent a lot of time recently with auditioning and favourites.

Could Olof please detail exactly what information will be lost before I start searching. Thanks

Just starting up 3.3.0 is enough to cause the issues.

    • Favorite marks are lost in User MIDI, linked MIDI folders and third-party MIDI folders (that you have used “Add to Database” on in the past).
    • You need to select “Sync File Changes” on the User MIDI folder to get the files to show up again.
    • You need to re-link previously linked MIDI folders (using Options > User MIDI and Linked Folders > Add Linked Folder).
    • You need to select “Add to Database” again for third-party MIDI folders that are located next to the Toontrack MIDI libraries.
