What’s the diff between Open or Hit in the case of the Kick Drum

what’s the diff between these two articulations? Does the beater stay buried against the kick head in one? Which one? Does the “buried” one have a more prominent transient? Thanks.

Hit articulation had the pedal buried against the head. Open had the pedal rebounded.

I find the open hits to have a more resonance. But the difference is slight to me.
