– Snare rimshots are super quiet. I’m not a drummer, but aren’t rimshot suppose to be even more exciting than a normal center hit, because you hit head and rim at the same time?
In the EZD3 grooves rimshots are much quieter than a center hit, it sounds more like a sidestick. I know I can adjust that in the grid editor, but that won’t make it EZ-ier, if you know what I mean. And even with full velocity, a center hit sounds more dominant than a rimshot to me.
anybody else?
Cheers
Michael
Any rimshot I try is either equal in intensity or more so.
You could give an exact example of whet you’re doing to audition a rimshot so someone can confirm what you’re hearing. Like what Library, preset, and snare and how exactly you’re triggering a Rimshot. If it’s a specific groove, check the velocity on that specific rimshot.
It’s always good to be running the latest version of the software when troubleshooting in case the issue has been fixed.

I think I found the reason. It seems the different Sample packs are not as compatible as I thought. If I use the EZD3 Kits the dynamics between the different hit styles are great and working. Hoever if I change to one of the “Metal Head snares”, which i like because of the punchyness, I get those very thin and quite rimshots. And even with full velocity, it seems they do not reach over the center hit, but that is due to the different recording- and engeneering setups I guess.
cheers

P.S.: So I guess my Thread-title is completely wrong 😉
Your video was helpful. I think it’s safe to say there are a few (at least one) rimshots that are not more intense than the center hit. And I agree, that should not be the case. Making sure it was not a bug or an over site in EZD3, I replicated your issue in EZD2, and it is there. I think you’ll have to resort to skipping this specific snare if the rimshot sound is key. Since there’s no way to isolate the volume of only the rimshot, you’d have to use two separate instances of EZD3… probably not worth the effort unless it’s that important to you.
