The “Randomize Hits” option in the “Hit Variation” section is cool but…
It barely does anything to change the sound of the instrument. I realize many people want to ability to have a consistant, solid center snare hit. I believe the artistry possibilities of recreating real human sounding drums would vastly improve if there were MORE randomization options on these settings.
I not talking about randomizing the timing, or randomizing the velocity, like you can do in the grid editor (or in your daw’s midi controls). Im saying the ability to dial in REAL changes in the samples chosen that would sound like a real drummer.
IMHO, this is a huge mis calculation in what will create the coolest VI real drummer results. As it is now 99% of the drum kits only have Center, edge, rimshot, etc … options. THe hi hats have more articulations , which is cool. But im talking about the actual varitaions within a single articulation. THere should be 3 or 4 ” Center” snares, each with a slight difference. The existing variations are so similar they create a “fake” vibe. No real drummer ever plays that consistent.
Once again, im familiar with many of the other options available to vary the sound. I just really think that having more noticeable varied samples per articulation would be amazing. you could always turn back to a simpler consistency if you want perfect hits every strike.
…OR… simply having more snare articulations that are big and beefy closer to the existing “center” hit would go a long way.
