I found something useful to describe and isolate the issue.

i attached an image of windows volume mixer, in 1 section i play a song on youtube, next to it you can see the volume of Superior Drummer 3.
what played in superior ddrummer 3 in that point i took this shot is consist snare on max hit (127) velocity.

It now make sense why im hear it low, the issue is with the output of the program.
I accept from the strongest hit on snare to be on maximum volume, or at least above the half of the bar in the volume mixer.

( Please do not suggest to take db in superior drummer above 0db, this is not a soltuion due to it casue to other issues with tail hiss )

I think this is a bug that need to be fixed, any suggestion what I can do ?

Edit: Actually even when i push it up with increase the db to +12db the mixer increase but the sound still low.

I don’t find it too quiet. I load in Cubase and it’s just as loud as other vsti. I use it standalone to play my edrums and can get plenty of volume so I’m not getting your problem. Also probably why you are not getting replies

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

Make sure you’re not sending the software instrument midi controller 11 (expression)

that is used by some vsti’s as a “plugin” volume, as opposed to midi cc7 which is fader volume.

no problems on my rig, if I turn it up too loud it’ll rip my head off.

I can hit the clip levels on my interface of some hard hits (note velocity 127)

keep in mind too that if you play something from YouTube or Spotify or whatever, you’re listening to a mastered track. You’ll need to add compressors and limiters to get your track to their mastered level. I usually bring down streaming services -5 to -10db to give me some headroom, when playing/rehearsing along with my plugins.

    good luck.

Thanks for answer, Im jealous of you that it work for you 🙂

Regarding the youtube song it was just example of how low i heared that in compare to other programs on my computer.
the issue is still even if i play the drums stand alone, I put the volume on maximum but it still not low, and can be heared only on the strongest hit ( 127 ).

Other Thing you mention is that to add a compress, actually it did add the volume after i play with that sometime, but it seems make the qulity lower, due to the tail hiss and noises after the hit is more noticeable now.

More one thing i notice, most of the persons that say that it work to them as expected, they are persons who use Cubase or other Software and use Superior Drummer 3 as plugin, but I think I paid enough to SD3 to make it work as expected as standalone program.

Actually there is a lot of persons with that issue, search in google “Superior Drummer 3 low volume”, infinite discussions on it.

There are lots and they tend to not understand drums or how to use SD3. Most are that the drums in the core library lack a real hard hit but this isn’t volume. I also use SD3 standalone to practice with and it’s well loud enough without me having to push anything hard. Remember it is extremely dynamic and the sounds are not processed. I take it you have found the volume button bottom right?

Mark hits it on the head. If you are using the Clean Kits, this is due more to unprocessed dynamics. Raw drums require lots of overhead in order to ensure all transients and frequencies are retained. Lots of overhead means a lower volume as a result. In order to attain more volume, you need to flatten the dynamics as well as carve out unwanted frequencies in order to make a kit sit better in a mix.

How do you adjust the volume  in SD3?

I have Roland Td 27 and when I hit the pads on my drums i barely can hear it, but when I hit the triggers it sounds great.

You need to see what velocities you are recording g in the midi. If you are not hitting 127 on hard hits then the sensitivity on your module is not set correctly. After that if you want a more compressed dynamic range you can change the velocity curves.

I’m not “techy” enough to figure out the actual source of the problem but I have figured out a way around it. I’m triggering a TD-30 and recording in Studio One. What I do to get the extra volume is to add an EQ to the post-out inserts of your monitor channel (which may be your headphone channel). Use the EQ to boost the gain on the monitor which will raise the volume of everything and then lower the volumes of all the other channels you are monitoring except the channel with SP3. You might have to adjust it a few times to get the balance but now the drums will be louder. Your recording input level will remain the same.  Only your monitor output volume will be affected.
