I have a copy of Steven Slate Drums that I don’t use. I just do not like the sounds and the UI isn’t very intuitive. Regardless, I want to know if there’s a way to pull the MIDI grooves from SSD and use them in SD3. I’m always buying Toontrack MIDI packs, but if I have extra grooves that I can use why let them go to waste?

Hi James,
if you have a folder with SSD MIDI, you can Link that folder on the GROOVES page by clicking the ‘Grooves’ button in the upper left corner, then ‘Folders > Add Linked Folder…’.
When added to the Browser, you can hover the mouse over the folder and click the small down arrow to bring up the menu for setting a MIDI In Preset for that folder.

Hi,
I have a similar situation as above (I want re-use the SSD5 grooves within SD3 VST3 / Ableton Live tracks).
I have mapped the “MIDI In Preset” SSD4 (see screen) in/to the linked folder (see screen 1). When I drag now a SSD5 midi groove (from within the SD3 VST) to a Ableton track will it be “properly” mapped for the use in SD3 or do I have to use additionally the SSD 4 “MIDI In/E-Drums Preset” in the Setting section ? (see screen 2)

If you drag an SSD5 track to your DAW you will need to apply mapping in SD3 in order for it to play correctly. SD3 sees your DAW just as it does any other MIDI controller.
