Using EZMix2 with Superior Drummer

Hello

So I’m using a Roland TD-30 and SD2 in Garage Band and / or Logic to record drum tracks, and when I create the drum kit as a software instrument all of the midi events get put onto the same track. Not that big of an issue, except when attempting to use presets in EZMix2 to refine the sound, the presets get applied to the entire drum kit vs individual pieces (which makes sense since the EZMix preset gets applied to the TRACK, which includes ALL of the drums). In other words, the kick drum preset gets applied to the cymbals, and vice versa.

Is there any way to apply EZMix2 presets to individual drums within the same track (ie, via the SD2 mixer)? The only way I’ve found to correct this issue is to separate the midi events into separate tracks, which ends up taking up more system resources than I’d like.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In Logic, open up your SD2 midi instrument as a Multi Output not just Stereo this will give you a way to then make individual tracks of SD2 for each drum and then you can get into it….
But to work on a multi output level and have individual tracks especially with their own effects will use more cpu, not much you can do about it.
A way to then help that is to use busses in logic to group elements back together like 3 snare mics into one stereo and insert one effect on that master track, this way you get individual control first,save a bit of cpu and a way to glue it back together the way a pro engineer does it.
