I’m using EZDrummer2 version 2.2.1 and have Blues EZX version 1.5.1 as well. I have a Windows 10 PC. I’d like to use a Akai LPD8 pad controller with EZDrummer2 but I hear a lot about problems mapping the pads. Are there any specifics I should know before purchasing an LPD8? How are the pads mapped to drums, that is, where do I go in the EZDrummer2 application to accomplish the mappings? Is there somewhere I can find detailed information on how to do this?
Also, when the pads are mapped to a drum, is it for a specific drum set or will the mappings work for all drum sets?
Thanks for whatever help I can get!
If the Akai is not capable of creating it’s own mapping, do not buy it to use with EZD2. EZD2 does not do any type of midi mapping. It only has a few presets for particular Vkits, which is really midi merging, than mapping. If this purchase is specifically for EZD2, simply buy a midi controller that can do custom maps. It’s a common feature.
You must crossgrade to Superior drummer 3 if you want Toontrack software that will do custom mapping needs.
One you get the map right, it will translate pretty well across EZX’s.

Thanked by: Pete ClearyHave you ever heard of or had any experiences with the Arturia BeatStep Controller & Sequencer? (Musician’s Friend link)
In its description, it claims:
BeatStep can quickly integrate with software including Ableton Live, BFD, EZdrummer and more.
My main purpose for this is to use with EZDrummer2 for the “Tap2 Find” function. Using the mouse to hit the drums is incredibly frustrating. If their are other features I could use, that’s always a plus! What’s your opinion?
“16 assignable encoders to control effects and software parameters”
Appears to have the capability to map itself to EZD2.
