    Many of us have Toontracks installed on outboard drives. EZD2 core library needs to have EZD2 installed. The library is in Modern/Vintage expansion pack, along with the MIDI.

    That would seem to contradict this from Toontracks technical advisory :

    You don’t need to have the EZD2 program installed. You can simply install the EZdrummer 2 Core Library EZX that is in your Toontrack Product Manager to have access to the EZD2 sound library and MIDI without the EZD2 plugin.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanx

    My mistake; I didn’t know you could install the core by itself.

    In the days before EZD3, you needed to have EZD2 plugin installed to use the EZD2 Core Library. Upon the release of EZD3, Toontrack created the EZD2 Core Library EZX that acted as an “Expansion” to EZD3. Users that purchased the EZD2 to EZD3 upgrade automatically had that EZD2 Core EZX wired to their account.

    Thus, those that just wanted to install EZD3 and have access to the EZD2 Core Library could do so without having to install the full EZD2 Product.

    Thanx so much Scott and Mick, I really appreciate the quick response(s) – it does not go unnoticed…

    I reckon at this point, I’ll push forward with my plan to uninstall everything from the product manager. Then just reinstall as I described previously; ideally I’m looking to do this as if I’m installing ezdrummer 3 as a new installation,  with the ezdrummer 2 core lib and the midi pack I own in tow…

    Again, thanx in advance for the assistance y’all…

    Which expansion do you have?

    You don’t need to uninstall EZ Drummer 3’s libraries. Move the libraries to your external drive and trash the current library. Then point EZ Drummer 3 to the new location.

    Mick : I have the Progressive Fusion MIDI pak…

    Bear : I’m well aware of that, I’ve already had the path for the sound files pointed to the external ssd for a while. The last update didn’t install to the external, it was installed (mistakenly, I gotta pay more attention *grins*) to the internal ssd. Reconfiguring things by uninstall / reinstall was/is the desired action…

    I followed thru on the procedure that I defined above and it went fairly well, but I wanted to get some further input before proceeding…

    Being a retired ‘techie‘ {hardware, firmware, software} I decided to ‘learn‘ as much as I could about the ezdrummer installation(s) as I could with the aid of a coupla tools and the command line. Here’s what I ‘discovered‘ after digging around and then uninstalling all the ezdrummer products from the product manager app:

    [the application]
    MacSSD >> Applications >> Toontrack
    -> EZdrummer 3
    # Uninstalled without issue, no remnants

    [default sound & midi file path]
    MacSSD >> Library >> Toontrack
    >> EZdrummer 3 / *
    # Uninstalled without issue, no remnants

    Logged on MacOS ‘user‘ account {ie ‘admin‘}
    I used the Finder menu ‘Go‘ selection while holding down ‘Alt‘-‘Option‘ keys to access the ‘admin‘ users ‘Library‘ folder.

    [‘user’ settings default path]
    MacSSD >> Users >> admin >> Library >> Application Support >> Toontrack
    >> EZdrummer / *
    >> EZdrummer 3 / *
    # Uninstalled no events, however leaving 5.2MB and 24.5MB artifacts respectively

    [‘user’ account cache]
    MacSSD >> Users >> admin >> Library >> Caches
    >> com.toontrack.ezdrummer2 / *
    >> com.toontrack.ezdrummer3 / *
    # Uninstalled no events, however leaving an empty folder and folder with 2 file artifacts (8K total) respectively

    [‘user’ account preferences]
    MacSSD >> Users >> admin >> Library >> Preferences
    -> com.toontrack.ezdrummer2.plist
    -> com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.app.plist
    -> com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.plist
    # Uninstalled no events, however leaving all 3 file artifacts respectively

    [Share for all MacOS user accounts]
    MacSSD >> Shared >> Toontrack
    >> EZdrummer / *
    >> EZdrummer 3 / *
    >> Preferences
    -> com.toontrack.ezdrummer2.plist
    -> com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.plist
    -> com.toontrack.superior.auezdrummer.plist
    # Uninstalled no events, however leaving the ezdrummer folder(s) contents and all 3 preference file artifacts respectively

    Initially when I gathered the info above, I also used the free ‘App Cleaner‘ application to get some initial info – I drag-dropped the ‘EZDrummmer 3‘ app icon in Launchpad onto ‘App Cleaner‘ and it pulled up this in a display window that included the following files which could only be accessed at the command line :

    [plugin files resources / preferences]
    On the internal MacSSD
    /private/var/db/receipts/
    com.toontrack.ezd2corec.pkg.bom
    com.toontrack.ezdecorec.pkg.plist
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.bom
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.plist
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.bom
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.plist
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.bom
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.plist
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.bom
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.plist
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.bom
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.plist
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.bom
    com.toontrack.ezdrummer3.pkg.plist
    # Uninstalled no events, however leaving the 2 ‘com.toontrack.ezd2corec’ package bom & plist file artifacts respectively

    To recap this, everything seemed to uninstall without issue; when finished all uninstallations, one of the products indicated that it couldn’t be reinstalled. I then rebooted my mac mini, logged in and brought up the product manager. I selected the sidebar item for all products I purchased, and everything on the display indicated no issues. So I then went back and inventoried what may or may not be leftover, and compiled the above list. Based on what I’m seeing and the program manager indicating everything is uninstalled (with issues indicated), it looks as if the ‘admin‘ user space needs to have the leftover artifacts (files n folders) cleaned up (removed). Then I’m gon make the assumption that after a quick reboot the software can then be reinstalled as per normal. Any thoughts? Am I proceeding correctly?

    Thanx in advance for any/all constructive input…

    Enjoy your holiday as well!
