I’m m looking for some help with triggering tom rim articulations in Superior Drummer 3.1
First the gear/software:
Superior Drummer 3.1
Roland TD-25K electronic drums (specifically addressing the floor tom pad PDX-8)
Reaper 6.0x
Focusrite Saffire Pro into a Macbook Pro running.
I’m trying to do my own recording of the song “Late in the Evening” by Paul Simon. Not sure how familiar anyone is with this song but drummer Steve Gadd does a unique pattern where he ‘rides’ on the rim of the floor tom while his left hand plays different tom notes (Mozambique pattern)
I’m trying to trigger just the rim sound in Superior Drummer 3.1 by playing on the rim of the Roland PDX-8 pad.
In the MIDI in/E-drums settings, I’m using the TD-25 Preset in SP3.1
I chose the Avatar Natural kit for the NY Avatar collection. When I go into MIDI in/E-drums I can see the Rim only articulation for Floor Tom 1 but I don’t know how to trigger that from the PDX-8. AFAIK, this pad isn’t a positional sensing pad. It is dual trigger though and sends over a different MIDI note when I hit on the rim (58). So the question is: How do I get SP3.1 to produce the floor tom rim sound when I hit the edge of the PDX-8 on the Roland kit?
If there is a step by step guide to do this or a video with specific instructions please point me to it.
TIA
Jim
