Hi all, super new to ekits and midi as a whole. When i am just playing on my nitro kit i am able to trigger a side stick sound by hitting the rim of my snare, however whenever i am using the ekit through ezdrummer and in logic it is instead giving me a rimshot sound. Is there anyway i can change this to instead trigger the sidestick? Thanks for any help in advance!
Hey buddy, in the Nitro manual read “Editing and Saving Drum Kits” and “To adjust the pad settings:”. Change the note that triggers the rimshot to C#1 or 37 in your Nitro Head Unit depending on whether Nitro uses notes or numbers. EZ Drummer will not solve the problem for you, but you could try adjusting the kit presets in EZD2 as well.
With this method you can change any Nitro Pad to trigger any EZD2 sound.

Thank you so much! This worked perfectly. Maybe a related question the nitro crash cymbal has the ability to choke. It works perfectly once and then remains choked for every hit. Any idea what setting i could adjust for this? Thanks once again your a life saver
No problem, glad I could help. Your other issue is going to be more challenging and I do not have the answer for you.
You’re experiencing what is called “Aftertouch” signals being sent incorrectly… or more so not as you intend. Aftertouch is the keyword for you to research. When you choke your cymbals an Aftertouch signal is send to do the choke, but it also needs to be canceled afterwards which is what I believe is not happening. Hence your cymbal stays choked, aftertouch is stuck on, is a way to think about it. But I am not an expert on this, just introducing you to it.
I believe this is not something EZD2 can solve for you.
I believe if you upgraded to Superior Drummer, it can be fixed. Please research that first before upgrading, I’m not advising.
If you use a DAW, you may be able to manipulate the incoming midi signals to fix this aftertouch release/cancel. Many people solve this issue here. You’ll want to find support from your DAW’s company in this case, not here though you can try.
A product in your Product Manager called Solo, maybe it’s free, might be able to help. I remember reading this once, this is a wild guess.
Googling “Aftertouch, Nitro, EZ Drummer 2, Your DAW” will shed a lot of light for you. Use the word Aftertouch when seeking support for this issue.
Goodluck.

I’m experiencing the same cymbal choke issue and I just saw in another post that this is a known issue in EZD2 that was fixed with a patch in SD3 but has yet to be implemented in EZD2 with no timeline to be fixed.
