Using Studio One 4 to record 7 tracks of drums and then importing the individual tracks into tracker. Once tracker finishes the conversion, it thinks the high hat is a snare and duplicates what’s being played on the snare. I’ve gone under sound recognition and changed it from snare to high hat but it still plays what’s being played on the snare. Can anyone help with how to fix this? Using separate mics on snare, high hat , tom 1, tom 2, floor tom, kick, snare & OHR & OHL.
If I record just the high hat, no problem. Only a problem when recording the whole kit
Hi,
if you solo the HH Track, turn the Mix knob all the way to the right and change the sound recognition to Hi-Hat, you still hear a Snare?
Which version number is reported in the plugin interface(lower left corner)?

Followed your steps exactly by turning the knob all the way to the right and selecting high hat as the sound and it still plays the snare. Using version 3.1.6. It looks like the only way it halfway works is if I record just the high hat track in studio one and mute all the other tracks. I then create an audio file of just the high hat track and import it into an existing tracker file. This way tracker sees it as a high hat track but it still does not pick up all the notes and articulations. Can you think of anything else I may be doing wrong? Having to record twice is a pain. I wonder if it has to do something with cymbals because I have the same problem with my left and right overheads. I am aware that tracker will only pick up cymbals sounds for the overheads but it’s not picking up what’s being played on the cymbals and again having to record cymbals separately. So far, capturing all cymbals when playing the full kit is the problem.
How are the mic’s positioned? It’s possible that they are positioned in such a way that the bleed they’re getting is overwhelming the tracker. You may have to reposition your miss and probably apply a gate to the recorded tracks in order to the tracker to trigger more effectively.

Another question. Is there a way to add to an existing tracker file? For example, I have a 50 measures of drums recorded one day and another 50 another day. I’ve already imported the first 50 in tracker and in my daw. How do I add the 2nd 50 measures to the first tracker file?
Thank’s for your reply. As far as the mics on the snare and high hat are concerned, I’m using an audix I5 and shure m57 on the high hat. Snare mic is placed with the back facing the toms and high hat mic is placed over the top of the high hat. Which mic are you suggesting I put the gate on snare or high hat? Also having the same problem with tracker not picking up what’s being played on the ride and crash cymbals. Using audix condenser mics for left & right overheads.
It’s more about the positioning that the type of mic in this case. Considering that the SM57 is a cardioid mic, I’m guessing that you have the snare within the mic’s position. You need to position it on the hat so that it is aimed away from the snare so that it is as much out of the pickup area as possible.

Did this still same issue
You probably have too much bleed in there. You’re probably going to have to apply your gate to your hi-hat.
