Hi All,
I am attempting you use a Mackie DL16s. I have not see latency issues so far. I am having issues with using it for live mix. I have the kick, snare, Tom, hh, oh, Amber, cmp…outputs sent to channel 9-14/15 on the board. But the snare mike only adjust the snare maybe 20%, it more changes the sound than the volume. I know this is due to the overheads, bleed, and compressor all having snare sounds in them, but dont see an easy way for the sound man to adjust the mix of snare/ Tom/ kick easily. How are you all routing and then adjusting?

For live you may want to turn the bleeds off and reduce the toms and snare in the overheads. You certainly don’t want effects on unless you really need them to create a certain sound.

thanks for the reply! won’t that significantly change the sound from the intended recorded audio?
Absolutely but if you are in a live venue then you have the room acoustics as well. A really treated drum kit with reverb etc and ambiance mics could sound awful then amplified in a big room. Recording and live are two different things. When I play I may used processed kits for recordings but dry kits through pa speakers.
