I’ve been using SD3 since mid 2020 and it’s been great. I have a decent 2018 iMac with 64 GB RAM. I’ve done dozens of tracks with SD3 and Pro Tools Ultimate (latest version) and really love it. But suddenly, for no apparent reason, when SD3 is used in any session, the PT cpu monitor peaks to 100%. That’s with the plug-in simply installed onto an instrument track. I haven’t done anything yet! Opening the plug-in and clicking on the drums (after they load), they play with crazy crackling. If I add a groove and press play, PT will simply crash. I didn’t change my system in any meaningful way. This behavior started on its own for no apparent reason. Any ideas what could be causing this or how to fix it?
Hi there,
Have you tried the usual suspect? Deleted Pro Tools Preferences?
Beyond that, perhaps installing SD3 (just the application and plug-ins)….
Mac Studio M1 Max, RAM 64 GB, 1TB Drive, OSX 12.x/13.x and Windows 10 (VM)
DAW: Studio One Pro (always up to date)
DTX Express III (Extreme triggers), Nektar LX88
OWC Thunderbay Mini (4 X 1TB Sata SSD), Express 4M2 (4 X 2TB M.2 SSD), Envoy Express (1TB M.2 SSD)
Presonus Quantum, Faderport & Faderport 8
Black Lion Sparrow Mk2 A/D, FMR-RNP-RNC, MIDI Xpress 128, BM5A, KRK VXT4, Equator D5
2020 Macbook Pro 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD Audio(mobile rig)
What exact revision of PT are you running? Just saying the latest isn’t enough.
Usually when I get crackling issues and PT crashes a reboot of the system clears up the problems. Are you doing anything else on the computer while working in PT?
