I just instructed Toontrack manager to install the library on my 2 TB hard drive instead of my main drive ssd …because of space.  Nothing other than that.  Which is where I copied that SDX library from …the 2TB hard drive.

Everything but sticks is a sample library from another source than Toontrack .. from which I can drop in individual samples into SDX if I want to.  I can’t imagine that would be preventing SDX from recognizing the SDX library on my MacBook Pro.  My Mac Pro has no trouble with it.  So other than that …the SDX library on that external drive appears correct?  If so …anyone have an idea why SDX on my Macbook does not find the samples with all the info I have given?  Thanks….

I’d suggest moving that ‘everything but sticks’ folder out of the Toontrack folder. Just because you think it works on your other drive doesn’t mean it’ll work on the second drive. There’s no reason to have that folder in your Toontrack core library folder.

You shouldn’t have to redownload everything to the other system. Something just occurred to me – you’re not using OSX Migration Assassin (Assistant) to move the core library are you? Either use target mode or Carbon Copy Cloner. How exactly are you doing the copy?

Open SD3 and when it complains about no sound library it should give the option navigate to where you have the copy installed.

I tried opening SD3 and navigating to that exterior hard drive before I even posted here …it still did not load the samples.  I will get rid of that Everything But Sticks ….but I have used samples from it in some of the projects I want to have load on that Macbook Pro ….all on my main Mac Pro with no problems.  So without it there …SD3 will not find them.  As far as how I coped it ….I did it like I always do …simply attached the external hard drive to my Mac Pro and dragged the folder over to the External hard Drive.  I did not use Migration assistant.

That should work but first as a test remove that extra folder and see if/how things work. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – if you STILL have issues grab Carbon Copy Cloner – it’s something you should have to begin with to make backups of your working system. Backups will save you for when (not if but when) you have problems. With CCC you don’t need to clone a whole drive but only certain parts. In this instance you’d clone the contents of the original folder for your core library to the second drive.

One of the first troubleshooting steps is to pare back anything that was added after an initial install so you get back to ‘factory fresh’ condition.

Thanks all …I finally got it.  I deleted the whole SD3 folder off that external drive and copied it once again off my Mac Pro.  I also downloaded all the EZX midi files with Toontrack Manager and now everything is fine.  I think my stupidity was in not downloading those midi files as well, thinking the midi files and the modifications I made were actually saved with SD3 for each project.  Anyways …thanks everyone for your patience and help.
