I have Superior Drummer on my studio Mac Pro. But I also want to have it on my MacBook Pro for portability and also to have that as a backup for all my Logic Pro projects in case something happens to my Mac Pro. So I have Toontrack Product Manager on my Macbook Pro and my license is registered with it. I downloaded Superior Drummer (as well as Ezkeys and EZbass) but now trying to download Superior Drummer’s libraries is proving problematic. Meaning the downloads will not complete. I keep getting an error of Connection Failed because of an SSL error. I tried connecting with Ethernet instead of Wi-fi but this did not correct the problem. How do I get this to work? Or as an alternative can I just copy my Superior Drummer Libraries to my MacBook Pro using Airdrop?
“Or as an alternative can I just copy my Superior Drummer Libraries to my MacBook Pro using Airdrop?”
Or use an external drive…. you can copy to and plug into the MBP, that’s what I would do….
Never tried Airdrop for somethat big…. that would probably hammer your Wi-Fi for a while…

In addition to what Brad wrote I’d suggest checking if you have the OSX firewall engaged. If so then disable it to do the download if you’d rather go that way. Something I do when I get downloads is to save them off to a completely separate external drive. That way I have them if/when needed and don’t have to muck around with downloading them again.

You should never have to download twice. You can put the samples wherever you like and point sd3 towards them.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

He’s going to have a second computer as a backup so your suggestion won’t quite work. I’ve never done this but could working in target mode work here?

Yes, starting up the MacBook Pro while holding the ‘T’ key will make it accessible as an external drive when you connect a Thunderbolt cable from the Mac Pro. Make sure there is room on the disk drive. Then just copy the SDX library over. Eject the disk when done and reboot the MacBook Pro.

Thanks everyone …I will try these various solutions….although the download of all Ezkeys and Ezbass libraries happened without a hitch
Ok …so I copied the SDX library to an external hard drive. But when I load a project that used Superior Drummer it does not find the samples. I then went into preferences and changed the path for the libraries to that external drive but it is still not finding the sample. I have looked at the SDX library on that external drive and it looks the same as the on on my other computer. So any advice is welcome …in the meantime I will go back to trying to download the libraries with Toontrack Manager. Pretty confusing so far.

Thanks …the folder is called SDX Library. Attached is a screen shot of what is in it. It is the only SDX Library I can find on my stsem …and everything in it is the same as everything on my main studio hard drive. Your help is greatly appreciated.
It appears that my main studio Mac Pro will download properly …should I just attach that external drive to it and then change the path to download to that drive? Of course, that seems kind of stupid since the files are already on my main studio drive but so far copying from my Mac Pro has not worked. Would I need to change the Computer name in preferences on Toontrack manager when I do this ….to make sure it can be used on my Macbook Pro? I really do not want to do any of this ….but whatever gets the job done. I do not want to mess up my main studio drive however for future downloads etc..

I do this all the time as I have a Mac Studio and Mac Book Pro and move libraries around.
sorry not enough espresso…. I see your screen print

What is that ‘everything but sticks’ folder? I don’t have that folder in my SD3 core library folder. Because I have three libraries (the core library and Death and Darkness) I created a folder on my Samples drive (yes I have a totally separate ssd for all my samples) called Toontrack. I used the Toontrack installer program to install the content to that Toontrack folder. The path is: Toontrack/SL-SuperiorDrummer3/ and then all the same folders you shows except for that ‘everything but stocks’ folder.
edit for additional: check the folder permissions

Everything but sticks is a sample library from another source than Toontrack .. from which I can drop in individual samples into SDX if I want to. I can’t imagine that would be preventing SDX from recognizing the SDX library on my MacBook Pro. My Mac Pro has no trouble with it. So other than that …the SDX library on that external drive appears correct? If so …anyone have an idea why SDX on my Macbook does not find the samples with all the info I have given? Thanks….

When you setup the library in SD3 are you just going to the SL-SuperiorDrummer 3 folder and no farther?
