SD3 is great, but I’m really hoping for some more self generating drums. I wish that all or any parts of the kit could be randomized every measure, to give an improvised feel instead of midi drum parts.
I would even love a randomize button just to spit out completely unorthodox drum parts. Lock in parts that work, but keep randomizing other parts. Or maybe have one or two parts (kick, snare) that are a pattern, but randomize everything else. Lock in each part until you generate something that no midi drum pack would throw at you.
Don’t get me wrong, I love SD3, but it seems rather uninspired at times. It would be nice if there were some experimental aspects to it.

I agree “Self-generating drums” would be a valuable addition and I’m sure they’ve considered it. However, I wonder if a feature like this might negatively impact their MIDI pack revenue streams. Why buy a MIDI pack if you can just generate new parts based on your audio?
One compromise might be to provide more sophisticated means of locking in the MIDI parts with your pre-existing audio tracks. For instance, I’d love to be able to record a bass guitar part, find or compose drum MIDI that’s 75% there, and click a button to intelligently adjust hi-hat velocities, or get the kick drum lined up with the existing tracks’ time-feel. Maybe some sliders to help dial in the various stylistic choices a good drummer is thinking about … push/pull around the beat, respecting the vocal or other lead instrument, etc.
I really don’t mind programming my drums manually, I like the control and want to make sure everything matches artistic intent … but the amount of time I spend on my drums is way disproportionate to every other phase of production. I’d like to be able to spend more time with my vocals and the other instruments that I actually know how to play. I hope SD4 is a big step forward and helps us all save time, whenever it may come out.
I just want more edrum improvements. I never use midi packs, I just play in the drum parts from my ekit and then do a bit of editing. I’d hate to see SD4 become overblown at the expense of playability.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
Yes. Ez is great for demos. But sd3 is the absolute champ and a at least upgrading it with ez3s new UI features would be a nice touch. Also you cannot edit individual articulations in ez. Which is a big drawback for edrums

I posted this in my own thread, but I too would like one main UI feature.
I would like to build my OWN drum sets that include the visual representation of my kit. Seems like a silly thing, but when you score the drums, it has value to actually watch them being played to make sure what you score is actually playable. This includes avoiding crazy cross overs to drums and cymbal crashes (don’t do a roll to the floor tom and then hit the left crash cymbal for example). SD2 almost had this with X-DRUM placement visually on top of the kit, but of course could not visually remove existing drum placements, making it somewhat messy. SD3 just lines the drums up on the left giving my no visual.
