Superior Drummer appears to be a dead product.

    No upgrades since 2017?

Toontrack is only upgrading lower end EZ series.

I purchased EZD 3 for the bandmate feature.

I use EZD 3 more on my portable laptop because my laptop ran out of disk space so could not load the SD packs.

EZD 3 is much smaller and does a great job just getting grooves and rhythms and the song creator is identical to SD3.

    Superior Drummer 3 version: 3.4.0
    Operating system: Windows 11

I think it’s very unlikely that anyone from TT would comment, not a thing folks do in software development. The best thing maybe is to look at their other major (X.0.0) releases and see what the average gap is between them. For Superior drummer we only have two major releases to date: SD2 came out in 2008 (they never released SD1), and SD3 in 2017. So based on that 9 year gap, we might expect to see SD4 around 2017 + 9 = 2026.

Six piece DWe, Roland BT-1s/eDRUMin, SD3 (State of the Art, Stockholm, Hitmaker, Legacy of Rock, Decades, Death & Darkness, Fields of Rock, Stories), RME Fireface, JH Audio IEMs w/Fiio Amplifier, Porter & Davies, Razer 16 laptop

    Hi,

Toontrack never “hints” or post anything beforehand here on the Forum. NDA’s and stuff. When something is communicated, it’s done officially via the main site and/or email.

Suggesting it’s a dead product because there isn’t a completely new version of the software out seems strange to me. I think there are about two SDX releases per year which suggests the opposite.

    BR,
    John

SD3 is far superior to ezdrummer. The packs are better and the editing and edrum settings set it apart. I wouldn’t use bandmate or the midi packs anyway. SD3 is regularly updated as well. I’m sure an SD4 or whatever it may be called will appear at some point. I guess then those with ezdrummer will be moaning that they will want features from it.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
