Superior Drummer 3 (Latest Version) Pro Tools 2019 – Volume and Mix Question

Hello All,

I have Superior Drummer 3 ( Which I love) but I can never get enough volume or punch in my mixes.  I have my tracks separated (auxed)  in Pro Tools so I can have more control over the volume but I just can’t seem to get the drums to sit in the mix correctly.  If I add master volume, I clip….if I bring down the Kick or Sub Kick volume (for example if they are the culprits of the clip) , I can’t seem to get a proper mix to let ALL the drums shine through.

I have adjusted the Mix control within Superior Drummer 3 and it helps but I was wondering if someone could assist me with possibly a suggestion on how you are setting up your superior drummer within ProTools in order to get a great drum sound.

Help!

I am new to mixing digital drums (I admit it) but I love the product and I want to see what I can do to utilize it to its best potential.

This is hard to answer without hearing what’s happening so far. There could be various reasons your drums aren’t sitting well ranging from:

• choice of kit (makes a huge difference)
• drum bus treatment (cohesion)
• other instruments masking your drums (IOW, your drums may not be the issue at hand)
• stereo bus treatment (overall cohesion of the mix)

those are just a few things.
