At this time, Superior Drummer 3 does not include an option to switch between light and dark themes. There isn’t a built-in setting to adjust the brightness or choose a light mode.

The best way to suggest new products or to leave feedback on current products is by posting your suggestions in the Support Forum via the Customer Service > Requests and Feedback section, as the Toontrack development team browses this section often.

It’s probably never been mentioned as I haven’t seen anyone find a problem with the GUI. If that is a problem for you then you really should have done your homework before buying and not just assume. There are plenty of music software without this type of feature. A simple look at SD3 YouTube videos would have revealed they all have the same GUI and a question on a forum would also have revealed that this feature did not exist. I know if something really matters to me I make sure I do my research.

A feature request is the way to go, as you have done. Not a rant though.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

Actually I like the gui as it is. Not a huge fan of light gui’s – they give me a literal headache and eye strain.

The thing is many people like the Gui as it is (dark) and that is fine, but many people also have big problems with it (can hardly use the software).

This has been recognized by many of the top software companies in the industry and they provide the options for the user to select/configure the Gui for what is best for them.

Just to assume that just because someone like the Gui as it is and don’t have have any problems with it and therefore think it should also be fine for everyone is a very limiting view.

People who like the Gui as it is should of course be able to keep it selected as dark as now, but for people having big problems with it they need an option to select a light Gui.

As for the comment above with me not doing my homework, I just assumed Toontrack was a modern company keeping in track with usability issues as many of the top software companies in the industry.

This is a big issue in general and receives many user comments for products not having the flexibility to configure the theme for their Gui.

    (How hard can it be?)

It’s not as simple as you think. Ever written code? I have and if you change one thing you could screwup something else. Not doing your homework before purchasing is on you. You can’t assume anything.

Many programs, websites, and apps allow selecting a dark or light GUI now, but not all. A dark background is considered easier on the eyes and better for battery life and energy consumption, but of course it is subjective. Try turning up the brightness on your screen.

DWe six piece kit, Roland BT-1s/eDRUMin, RME Fireface interface, JH Audio IEMs w/Fiio Amp, Porter & Davies transducer, Razer 16 laptop, SD3 (State of the Art, Stockholm, Hitmaker, Legacy of Rock, Decades, Death & Darkness, Fields of Rock, Stories)

    And turning down the contrast.

I’m trying to think what music plug-ins have this capability. None of the major plug-ins I have do this.

ProTools has had the gui color customization for ages. Even before the last few versions from Avid. A bunch of us figured out how to make the changes before it was officially available from Avid. Digital Performer also has the gui color change ability. I think unfiltered audio has that capability. Arturia Pigments can go from a dark to light gui as well. The light one is completely unreadable.

I’m not considering DAWs or applications. Logic is also configurable in that sense. Pigments might be the only software instrument that I have in this case. I’ve never looked at reconfiguring the GUI, but I will take you at your word and that the light setting is to be avoided. I don’t think any of my other Arturia plug-ins do this (and I have both of their collections). I haven’t seen this in any of my other software instruments or effects either.

Jord: None of the other Arturia synths have a light gui available. Synthmaster has a changeable gui in color only but not a light/dark as the OP seems to be looking for. I would love for the OP to post what other plugins he has that do what he wants for the benefit of us all.

The only other one that comes to mind for me is Reaktor. Then again you can make that into anything.

It might also be worth noting that Superior Drummer is just shy of its eighth birthday. That’s I would expect anything like this to go into the next upgrade release version. Not to mention that I’d probably expect to see the GUI more in line with ToonTrack’s latest product offerings.
