Hello,
I have a problem when i want to record my Roland TD3 E-Kit drum using sd3 as VST in Reason 9.5, indeed, my hat hat doesn’t sound as good as when i use sd3 in standalone mode, why ?
I really don’t want to do the hi hat with keyboard as i would lose all the groove…
isn’t it an easier solution than having to export my Reason project (without drum) in SD3 tracker to record the drum upon the mix and then re export the drum part in Reason ? hope it sounds clear to you (sorry i’m french^^)
i would apreciate any suggestions
thanks
Hi,
can you elaborate on what you mean with doesn’t sound as good?

Hi,
i mean there are some hi hat Notes that are missing, i don’t hear them whereas i hit the pad, it’s like 2 hit over 10 that i hear.. Also i always have to put the hi hat volume very loud in SD3 so i can barely hear it in reason while playing the e-kit, it is just with hi hat, the rest is ok.
i don’t have this problem when i play trough Roland TD3 module and through SD3 directly, only when using SD3 within reason…
Should i buy another hi hat pad and pedal ?
i’ve noticed that the newest pad i bought (crash cymbal CY-8) is sounding louder than all the others !?
Thanks for your help
Could be reason as this problem does not occur using Cubase. I find no difference between stand alone or as a vsti in Cubase.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
Hi,
I have been trying to figure out what could be the problem over the weekend but I’m stumped. Also, I’m on Reason 11 but I can’t think of any setting in Reason that would be causing this. When I’m triggering SD3 in Reason it behaves as expected and exactly the same as in the Standalone.
That’s what I don’t get, that you get so drastically different results in Standalone and inside Reason. Are there any available updates to Reason for you?

John
