    Hi,

is it only when you are using the Grid Editor it crashes?

Does it happen in the standalone when you do the same thing?

Is it possible for you to save a Logic or Pro Tools session where you get the crashing (don’t include Audio Files), ZIP it and attach to a post here?

    BR,
    John

Hi, thanks for your answer! I’ll check how to get the log from protools. Yes it just happens when I select, move or quantize some notes in the Grid Editor.

I don’t know if it crashes in stand alone because I never used it like this.. my workflow is in protools like a normal instrument track. I can check it, but I need that it works on Pro tools.

I just notice that theses crashes happen most of the time when I have a note in the end of a structure block that should be in the new structure block (like a kick that was played too early in the end of a verse/beginning of a chorus). Sometimes just by selecting the note in the grid it crashes.. sometimes I need to select the note by its volume to avoid crashes. But it’s just one way of crashing.. sometimes it crashes and the note is in the middle of a structure block.

I’m on my cellphone, I’ll come back later with the Protools log!

    Thanks

I’m getting how to avoid theses crashes, but sometimes it happens. Here you are a screen capture of the point where it crashed.. i was trying to quantize the ride and the very last attack was dragged to the first beat of bar 36 (a new structure block).

Version 3.1.5 is out now and it should fix these crashes.

    Hi Nycollas and John:

I’m glad this was posted. I have the same crashing issue but I think mine is much worse and much more frequent. My studio system is extremely powerful and the crashes happen both in standalone as well as when running into Pro Tools or Studio One Professional. The way I track is by way of MIDI/USB using my Alesis Strike Pro SE kit and Strike Module which is on the current update.

My studio itself as I said is extremely powerful. I run a Windows tower custom built on a Gigabyte Gamer Board, an Intel i9 8 Core 5.0 Ghz per single core and multi core Coffee Lake Processor. 64GB of 3300 Speed RAM, an INVIDIA 64GB Gamer Video Card, two Samsung EVO 860 2TB m.2 SSD Drives, a Seagate 8,600 RPM 8 TB HD Drive and four Crucial 2TB m.2 SSD Drives in a portable desktop array for storage, 20 TB in total of super fast storage. My audio recording interface’s are multiple Universal Audio Apollo units, two x8P’s a Twin Duo Master Control and a UAD-2 Octo 8 Core Satellite. One of the x8P’s also runs an Audient ASP 880 8 Channel Mic Pre via Lightpipe. It is controlled by a Presonus Faderport 16. I also have patched in an Akai Advance 61 key Midi Controller / Keyboard which I sometimes use for SD3. Unrelated to this but should be listed just in case I have a Two Notes Torpedo Studio running into the x8P for my tube guitar amps and a Fractal Audio Axe Fx III In Line into the Twin Duo Apollo. Three Video Monitors, come up in my Windows chain, two being LG 5K 34″ Curved units and a Samsung 55″ unit as well but my audio is all routed thru Universal Audio. My DAW software is Pro Tools 2020 latest version as well as Presonus Studio One 5.6 Professional.

I am currently running the most up to date software and drivers for Toontrack, Windows 10 64x, Universal Audio and Avid Pro Tools. Nothing seems to hold and I constant crashing The power and quality in my studio are pretty unmatched compared to the capabilities of the biggest most powerful recording studios worldwide.

Please use this with Nycollas’ situation as well. I too need your help as I have an album due in November 2021 and we are now stuck because we cannot track drums due to the constant crashing. I use the current version of SD3 and ALL of my drums are thru Eddie Kramer Legacy of Rock although the crashes occur on anything in SD3 be it standalone or in the DAW. The red message at the bottom of the GUI interface of SD3 says “Check Audio Device Settings” and I have to constantly go in like Nycollas and rescan and reset all my MIDI Devices.

    Thank You:

    Doug

You are on a pc but Nicollas is on a Mac. Is there a certain situation that causes the crash? I have the latest version and have 2 PCs. One is a 12 year old i7 with an old m-audio FireWire interface and the other a new i9 on an ASUS Rog Strix gaming motherboard. I use ssd for boot drive and m.2 for samples with an RME Babyface pro fs as well as a zoom L-20 now and again. On neither of the PCs have I had SD3 crash in standalone mode. My son plays the i7 from a td20 for hours on end without a problem and I can leave the i9 on all day with SD3 up without a crash.

so it sounds like something else is going on. Have you tried narrowing it down by removing some equipment to simplify. Is there a certain situation that always crashes SD3 or is it random. When you say crash what happens?

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
