I am looking for a ride cymbal to sound similar to a Zildjian 22″ Ping ride – similar to the ride sound that Mel Gaynor gets (esp in Simple Minds Live in The City of Light live recording) – very bright, lots of stick definition, low overtones and a strong bell sound. The best I have found so far is the 21” Sabian Will Calhoun Signature Luna Ride in Progressive Foundry but it still has too much overtone for what I am after and not a bright enough sound. I have tried to alter tuning and transients with above option but still not getting what I am after.
Has anyone got any suggestions on how to achieve this sound or in which SDX a similar ride sound can be found. I have many (but not all) SDX expansions. Thanks, Andrew
