Not too long ago I went Mac/Ventura and stuck with EZD3 since it’s only a 500GB drive and didn’t want to monkey around with an external drive for SD libraries. Well I miss Area too much so figured out how to do that, and it worked well.
I picked the the Area 33 origins yesterday though and it installed very strangely. For some reason, it installed on both the internal and external drives . When I deleted the internal one, everything worked fine, but it was missing the midi for Origins. So I decided it was too messy the way I did it and deleted everything.
Installing the SD program is easy of course, downloading the libraries doesn’t take long here (a couple of hours for Area 33) but before I start all over, I’d like to know if there is a trick I can’t figure out to make sure both libraries are installed only on the same external drive with all the midi and everything. I’m new to having things on an external drive and even though the instructions are relatively clear, I made a boo-boo and would like to avoid that.
Yeah thanks. I tried that and couldn’t get that to work well. I wonder if it’s a bug or something to do with Mac? I dunno, I think I’ve decided to just sell the licenses for the two SDX’s and stick with EZD3. As great as those kits are, I don’t really need SD
No bug… all of my MIDI is right where it should be.
Even tested it when I moved my libraries to another SSD external for my laptop.
Willing to bet that you changed the location after installing and didn’t move them to the proper place. Also worth noting is that your MIDI is tied to your EZD folders. So wherever you place your EZDrummer libraries, your MIDI will follow.

This is important to understand. You cannot have the SDX MIDI in one location and your EZX:s MIDI somehwhere else.
EZX:s and Toontrack MIDI must be in the same location, whether on an internal or external drive .
