Hi,
I am using EZDrummer in Fruity Loops and when I loaded a pattern that I was working on last night
(everything was playing fine last night) and then tried to play it today, nothing played. I waited several
moments as the playlist bar went past the pattern a couple times, and then suddenly the bass drums
started playing. Waited even longer thinking that the snare and hi hats and toms would follow suit but
no luck. I went back into EZDrummer’s interface and made sure my snares, hi hats, cymbals, and toms
were selected correctly but that didn’t help make them come on/play.
Anyone had a similar problem like this, and if so, how do you fix?

Using Cubase Studio 5 with same recurring problem. Sound will drop out during playback and then suddenly reappear with parts of the drum kit randomly coming back in. Song will play for a bit and then the same thing may or may not occur again. Sound drop out is not always the same place.

That’s EXACTLY the problem I have. Strange thing just now actually, is that my snare came back but the toms and cymbals haven’t yet. If you click on the keys in the piano roll in FL to try and play the instruments that haven’t came back yet, you just get silence. It’s almost as if EZDrummer is saying “Nope, I’m not ready to wake up parts of my body yet” lol
It’s really weird, cause like sometimes I’ll open FL and it’ll play everything just fine and then other days, like today, it does this weird phenomenon.

Hi,
please fill in your system specifications in your profile and/or signature.

Hi,
I updated my info, I hope I gave everything you need.
As an update from yesterday to today, I figured something else out. If you wait long enough,
the instruments come back in eventually, but you have to wait a really, really long time..like 30
minutes. The bass drum is there always, the snare comes in about 15 minutes later, and the highhats,
toms, and cymbals come in @ 25 to 30..
memory issue ya think? I got pretty good RAM though, so it doesn’t really make sense to me..

System info is updated. So, what’s up? I have reloaded EZDrummer and Nashville grooves, but issue persists.

same here Bill. I still have to wait 20 to 30 minutes for all the instruments to be fully audible.

How big is your H/W Buffer Size?
What else is running on the computer at the same time? I.e. not only in your host.
What version number is displayed in the EZdrummer interface?

Running 44.1
1) Buffer size is 1024 samples
2) Nothing else is opened up cept FL. I do have some guitar tracks recorded in there (about 4 channel’s worth)
and an added kick from FL, which is tiny)
3) EZDrummer 1.2.0

I have this same problem. I thought it might be because I was hitting play before the drums were re-sampled (I am using 48kHz / 24 Bit sampling for the Sonar project), but even if I wait until EZD’s memory indicator stops (stock drum kit, about 308M), I still have the issue.
I’m using the 64 bit EZD. I’ve tried different buffer sizes from 64 to 2048.
As the OP stated, I’ve created new projects and they work fine including exporting a mix. I’ve then shut down my PC, gone back to it the next day and get the intermittent drum hits. I can open the MIDI file and verify the notes are still there. If I loop just a measure which was skipping, the notes may or may not play each pass through. It seems like the drop out is random too – if I start the song in a different location it may drop different notes. But, it doesn’t seem like there’s any pattern (e.g., it’s not always the third measure).
I tried using BFD with the same MIDI file and don’t have the same issue (I don’t know if the stock BDF with Sonar 8.5 Producer is 64 bit).

Curious, can you reproduce this behavior in a new project with only EZdrummer loaded?

Hi Dave,
Thanks for replying and asking quetions – you always seem to be helpful!
To answer your question, yes, basically.
I created a new project last night with only EZD and one track with Guitar Rig enabled but nothing recorded. I was trying to just start a new tune and selecting some EZD tracks. Due to general latency issues that I’m also battling I re-booted and then re-opened the project and had the drop out issue. That’s when I tried BFD and got it to play (on the re-boot, re-open).
I do have a number of other plugins inserted but I had disabled all of them except the one Guitar Rig (their 64 bit beta version) and the two drum plugins (these were not both on at the same time).
I’ve had this problem on a few songs now and I’ve tried to pinpoint when it started. I also have a latency problem that I can’t seem to solve but I don’t know if it’s related. I don’t think so because I’m not doing any other MIDI stuff and even what MIDI I do use doesn’t go through the PreSonus (I use Yamaha’s USB MIDI driver and a USB MIDI connection to one Yamaha MO 6).

pinkwarrior235,
I am sorry but the reply I wrote some time ago must have been trapped offline or lost in cyberspace.
IIRC, I asked if you were running any AntiVirus software or similar and if you could email me your FL project that takes so long, along with some screen shots, showing your settings and setup in FL (with EZ interface open).
Just send it to john toontrack • com, replacing youknowwhat with youknowwhat.

RandyMorter,
could you please check that you have the latest driver for your Presonus and review its ASIO/Universal Control panel settings?
