So I was mid project today, I opened a template file, chose one of my SD3 presets and went to work. I laid in two pieces of toontrack midi and then something weird started happening.
I don’t use the Toontrack editor, I drag and drop the midi from the grooves in SD3 to my track in Reaper. I have been doing it this way for years. All of the sudden, I hit play and after the first two sections, all the MIDI was completely wrong. When I tried to redo it, I noticed that again, the file that ended up in my track was not the midi groove I selected. It wasn’t even from the same midi pack. The weirder thing was that every time I tried, it was giving me the exact same incorrect midi groove. In the toontrack editor, it would drag the correct groove but not in reaper.
I tried reinstalling Reaper, restarting my computer, various sessions but no matter what I drag in, a different file appears. Every midi file seems to have a consistent corresponding incorrect file.
I would really love to avoid reinstalling SD3 and being that the correct file drags into the SD3 editor, I sort of figured SD3 wasn’t the issue.
Really need help on this one!!
Hi,
re-installing the SD3 software is a quick operation if you want to try that. The libraries are just sounds, so there would no meaning re-installing them unless the SD3 software reports a damaged library.
How does the SD3 standalone behave? If you drag MIDI from there, either to the desktop or a host, is it the expected MIDI that is dropped?

Thanks for getting back to me! For starters, I wanted to note that I found an older post from this forum that covered what I thought was a fix but the fix didn’t work for me. On one hand, running in admin mode DID solve the problem, the next step did not work. My main user has permissions to write. Here’s the link to the post for reference:

When using the standalone, the MIDI does the same thing as when open in Reaper.
I think a completely fresh install would probably be best. Can you tell me how I might completely remove all of SD3 from my computer? You say I could just reinstall the software? How would I do that, I am also missing the VST3i so this could be for the best.
Thank you again.
