Greetings. The second instrument in the Cymbal 5 slot of the Core Library (that’s the rightmost cymbal in the kit), the “19″ Zildjian K Constantinople Crash Ride” has the left and right channels reversed. It should sound like it’s on the right side of the stereo field, like the other two instruments in that slot; however, it’s clearly coming from the left side. It’s most obvious in articulations other than “Crash”.
It would be nice if that could be fixed, especially since the Cymbal 5 slot only has three instruments in it. I can “fix” it somewhat in the Mixer but that’s more trouble than it’s worth. Thanks!

I just went through all of the articulations on this cymbal in the 5 position you indicated, and they all appeared to originate more in the right side of the stereo field than the left, although the sustain approached a balanced L/R quickly. Hard to accurately measure in the SD3 mixer (that I know of anyway) so I cannot prove it. But I did compare it to the default cymbals in positions Cymbal 1 and 2 and there was a distinct difference in perceived location in the stereo field.
It’s a little harder to notice on a per-articulation basis, although the bell and the bow shank are definitely coming from the left, and they should be coming from the right.
When you swap out the instruments entirely (one of either chinas in this slot vs this crash/ride) the issue becomes immediately apparent, especially if you use a module like the eDrumIn that allows you to use 3 articulations per cymbal; it’s slightly less obvious when all you can use is the Crash articulation. Especially on edrums it is rather startling to all of a sudden hear a cymbal that is physically triggered on the right come from the left instead.
It’s “fixable” with some creative use of the Mixer and an X-Drum but it sounds like an obvious bug.

By the way, the 18” Istanbul Agop Traditional Dark Crash in the Cymbal 4 slot is suffering from the exact same bug. Trust me, once you hear it, you can’t un-hear it.

Hi monospace. You might be on to something but I’m not able to see it consistently. If I just open the core library to the default kit, and then place the offending cymbal in slot 5, I hear what you are referring to clearly. However, if I take an existing core custom preset that I use frequently and do the same, it is OK. So far I cannot explain why this is the case, however…
Here is more info: if I solo the Ambient ribbon mic, the cymbal is clearly from the right. If I solo the OH Dynamic, it is very much from the left. And if I solo the Ambient near it is close to middle. So maybe check your mixer, maybe the preset that sounds good to me has the OH Dyn off or lowered. I’m wondering if just one mic (OH Dyn) was L-R reversed. I’ll keep playing with it.
I found many in the past in sd2 and before that and toontrack always acted on them

I bounced a couple of hits on this second cymbal, the 19″ Z K Constantinople C R, and saw this, the bow clearly shows some peaks on the left, the bell and crash seem fine to me.

From what I can tell, that is indeed the case, and only for the two cymbals I mentioned.
One workaround I’ve been using is to reroute those particular cymbal microphones into a new X-OH Dyn, and reverse the panning on those. Unfortunately that means you can’t simply swap out instruments in the Drum Tab without having to make a trip to the Mixer Tab as well.
