    There are two scenarios here:
    – If you are happy with how EZdrummer 2 reacts to you e-drums, when you are using the e-drum preset in EZdrummer 2, then the standalone should be enough.
The advantage is that the standalone is light on your system – a DAW will use more CPU.

    – if you want to change how the MIDI, say MIDI note 25 should be transformed to 30 or similar, this would be done in a DAW.
Further, the DAW has advantages such as the option to add more individual effects, you can change save and change presets (in Cubase they are called VST Presets, for example). Useful if you have one drum setup in one song, and another in the next.

    Very helpful, thank you.

Can you suggest a good DAW for playing live with EZ Drummer? Cubebase looks interesting, but there are three products offered, and the Pro is very $$. Would the Elements version do the job, in your view?

when I was on PC I used Bloxpander. Very good Software. You can build different scenes which can be recalled by Midi through your Drumbrain for example.
Look for Bloxpander by EAReckon. But this not a DAW.

If you are looking for a DAW I can recommend REAPER. Works in both worlds.
    A lot of Software for just a few bucks . . . .

    Cheers Ilja

I preferred Bloxpander for Live-Playing on stage. Much quicker an a better overview.
But it depends on you. I just recommend to take a closer look at Bloxpander.
Another maybe helpful Information is, that the Programmer of Bloxpander was a employer at Toontrack for several years.
He helped me a lot and was very kind. Just for information Wink

Newbie question but I have not been able to figure this out. I am using EZ Drummer 2 with a Yamaha kit to play live. I am not recording.

The arrangement: Yamaha DTX562k -> Alternate Mode DITI trigger box -> Presonus Audiobox USB 96 – > USB to/From laptop -> Presonus Audiobox to the PA/headphones/amp etc.

Do I just use EZ Drummer in Standalone, or do I need to use a DAW (like Presonus Studio One) to play live?

I don’t understand why I would need to use a DAW, but I am having a number of issues getting the drums to trigger correctly so I am wondering if the issue is related to not having a DAW.

    Thanks….

You have answered my question about “What does stand alone mean”. thank you so much sir.
