Hi!
I have recently upgraded my system with 3TB of SSD for streaming sample libraries. Is it possible to stream from SSD in SD3? I can’t see any options for doing this, and at the moment a single instance of SD3 w/ roots SDX has a larger RAM footprint than a full orchestral template.
If this is not currently a feature, please consider this a feature request. It would be extremely helpful 🙂
Thanks!

Hi,
disk streaming has never been an option in the Toontrack sample players and I seriously doubt it would ever happen, since it kind of beats the philosophy behind the plugins.
To minimise the RAM footprint, you can make use of the ‘Cached’ function and/or turn on 16-bit.
That said, a post in the Requests & Feedback section would be the right place to ask for it and Toontrack reads all Requests.

Thanks John, I will try posting a thread in that section. 🙂
What do you mean by “it beats the philosophy behind the plugins”? I can’t see any negatives associated with more efficient use of RAM. Streaming has certainly made my other virtual instruments run more smoothly.
I have been using 16 bit mode until bouncing. I prefer not to use cached mode until I absolutely have to (or have finished the composition phase)- which is part of why I like the idea of streaming – I would never need to use cached mode anymore, but could always have access to all of the samples instantly with minimal use of RAM.
Cheers,
Jon
